Acer Travelmate 230 Laptop

The Acer Travelmate 230 laptop was purchased the end of 2003. I do not have the manufacture's disk that should restore the computer to the way it origionally was when it left the factory. I contacted Acer but was advised that they do not have that CD anymore.

The end of last year, the computer stopped reading email attachments and certain downloads. I installed and re-installed the adobe reader but it sitll does not work. I removed some software off of my computer as it was getting low in disk space. Apparently, some needed files were deleted as well. I used SBC wireless connection for the internet services. Now, when I go to use the internet, the computer appears to try to connect me but kicks me right back off. I can not use the internet anymore.

Please help! Stiney

You can, if available, purchase a Recovery disk from Acer. That said, if you have a Recovery Partition, By rebooting and using the restore/recovery ALT+ F-10 keys. On page 59 : and this may be useful: IF you are doing a Factory recovery on a XP Machine, I would put on a pot of coffee. I recently did the same, with hundreds of Windows and Computer manufacturer's update it took 36 hours stright. Good Luck.

i believe it could be in your programs
acer empowering technologies
acer erecovery management

then follow onscreen instructions

but please if you have the option save any important items like files or photo,s to
a spare drive or disk before you do this as you will loose all you put on and it will format your drive
and hopefully restore back to factory settings

if you cannot start the laptop correctly
then try to press the power key along with the alt+f10 key i believe this will start the recovery

HOW CAN I RESTORE MY ACER TRAVELMATE 2200 without the original disk??????????????? NOW CAN U ANSWER THAT...ASAP

Hello !

Note: the recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook.

You can try ALT+F10 or CTRL+F10 during the initial boot cycle. This should prompt the laptop to access the recovery partition on the hard drive.

If it doesn't work :

Activate BIOS Setup Utility, press <F2> during POST.

Check the BIOS settings.

a Check to see if "Acer disc-to-disc" function is enabled or not.
b Make sure the [Acer D2D Recovery] setting in [Main] is
c Exit the BIOS Setup Utility and save changes. The system will

Hope this helps.

Windows server 2003 drivers

If acer or the manufacturer doesn't have them, you can try and getting the device ven info from running devmgmt.msc then right-clicking properties, then details.

The info you'll need is PCI\VEN_[Vendor id]%DEV_[device id]

You could try installing the xp drivers, and ignore any warnings. Just be sure windows restore is turned on, to undo any bad drivers. I'm not sure if Windows 2003 has system restore?

Beyond that, you'd be very hard pressed to find any.

My laptop had to be wiped because of an virus or something and now i have now sound what can i do about it?

the easiest solution is go to the Acer website and download the latest sound drivers for your laptop model. Possibly the drivers are on one of the restore disks, but the latest driver for sound should be readily available on their site.
