You have really slow internet i take it? less then 1MB/S probably. it'll take a while to download it, but you could try downloading it manually and updating via a .ipsw file. it is quite simple:

1. dowload a .ipsw file of the firmware you wish to update to (you can find these at make sure it is the correct version for your ipod).... save it to your desktop for safekeeping. also, make sure you have the latest version of itunes

2. wait for it to download: watch a movie, get caught up on TV, do homework, go to sleep, go outside and play, go to work, etc.

3. once download completes, open itunes with your ipod plugged in. ignore the request to update. click on the icon for your ipod. hold the shift button and click on the "update" button, it should open a file dialog box. find the .ipsw file you downloaded earlier click open.

4. allow to run, this should take about 45 minutes, take this time to do other activities such as surfing fail blog or icanhascheezburger or learn something new on instructables, or hell, help someone out on fixya

5. return to your ipod after the wait to see if you had success. if you did, GREAT, continue to step 6. if not, do step 3-5 again, if that doesn't work.... you may need to try a different .ipsw file, return to step 1.

6. you now have an updated ipod touch, now you can enjoy the new 3.0 apps and such. might i suggest Eliminate or Topple 2

My Ipod Touch lags on start up/loading playlists and freezes sometimes

font.f1 { font: 12px Helvetica; } Thanks for asking your question with Fixya Support. I will be glad to assist you.

The simplest approach to resolving an issue like this with your iPod Touch is to perform a reset, which in essence "reboots" your iPhone and can improve its performance. Not to worry, a hard reset process does not endanger any of your playlists, videos, podcasts, etc., which you may have on your iPod Touch.

All you need to do is press the Sleep button, located at the top of your iPod Touch and then the Home button located at the bottom center-most location of your iPod.

Hold both buttons down at the same time for approximately 10 seconds. Within that time you should see an Apple icon appear as your iPod Touch attempts to reboot. Allow it to go back to your main screen. Now attempt to use the device as you normally would and see if it improves.

I would also recommend you connect your iPod Touch to your computer and check in iTunes- if I am not mistaken, there is a new iOS 4.3 update just released from Apple, that you can run, if you have not done so already. It is always good to keep your iPod Touch up to date with the software updates, as those updates can resolve the bugs of the previous iOS version.

This should help, but please feel free to let me know if it does not. Always glad to assist!

I cannot invade zombie farm everytime i want to invade it goes to loading game and have to wait for another 1 hour plus for the next invade. It very frustrated. Please help.

Zombie Farm uses your iPhone/iPod Touch's system time to count down until the next invasion. You can speed the time it takes for Zombies to invade by setting your system's clock forward until the time of the next invasion.

To do this, go to Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Date & Time

When i plug in my ipod touch 8gb it will access i tunes and show on the i tunes screen panel it will tell me to down load up date i did that , then it will tell me to restore it , i did that , after...

if you just got this, then i could possibly be a defective one. if you got this a while go and it worked, then something on the ipod itself may be the cause. go to the place where you got it to get it checked out.

I lost the passcode to my i pod touch

Their directions sheet is incorrect. when the initial screen says save, don't click down load and be prepared to wait 1/2 an hour befor it starts. mine tried to down load over 6 times before it finally took. then I attempted to get on to the internet and msn was not one of their choices! also I was locked out of the three wi-fi stations that came on screen. I'm guessing this is a piece of hyped junk.

My ipod has a circle red x on it and wont respond

First try resetting the iPod. If this does not work then restore it.
To RESET IPOD: 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again). 2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
To RESTORE IPOD To update or restore iPod classic: 1 Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from 2 Connect iPod classic to your computer. 3 In iTunes, select iPod classic in the source list and click the Summary tab. The Version section tells you whether iPod classic is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
In Restore all data is erased from iPod classic, including songs, videos, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod classic settings are restored to their original state.

My ipod touch is locked and i forgot the passcode and its disabled and i cant link it up to itunes unless i unlock it which i cant

Updating and Restoring iPod touch Software You can use iTunes to update or reinstall iPod touch software, restore default settings, and delete all data on iPod touch. ââ If you update, the iPod touch software is updated but your downloaded applications, settings, and songs are not affected. ââ If you restore, the latest version of iPod touch software is reinstalled, default settings are restored, and data stored on iPod touch is deleted, including downloaded applications, songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. In iTunes 7.7, you can also restore from a backup without deleting data stored on iPod touch. Note: Deleted data is no longer accessible via the iPod touch user interface, but is not permanently erased from your iPod touch until it is overwritten by new data. For information about permanently erasing all content and settings, see “Resetting iPod touch” on page 94. Update or restore iPod touch: 1 Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from 2 Connect iPod touch to your computer. 3 Select iPod touch in the iTunes sidebar and click the Summary tab. 4 Click “Check for Update.” iTunes tells you if there’s a newer version of the iPod touch software available. 5 Click Update to install the latest version of the software. Or click Restore to restore. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the restore process.

Ipod touch

It depends on which OS are you running. Most ipods are inherently mac. When you are running on Windows it has to be formatted for windows. Also you have to make sure that iTunes is up to date. I believe version 7 included iphone/ipod touch compatibility. Version 8 includes iTV as well. Make sure you are running the most current version of itunes to be able to access newer apple technology. Itunes 6 and below don't support the iphone or newer technology. If that doesn't work there might be a problem with that ipod touch. Try and see if you can get a replacement, but try updating to or installing iTunes 8 first.

Problems installing i pod program

The only valid tool for loading music on an iPod is iTunes.
Download the latest version Here.

Once you have installed iTunes, plug in your iPod and it should mount.
Apple has replaced all the old software with iTunes.
Good Luck!
