My phaser 740 has print that flakes off when you print pictures with real dark areas. I assume it needs more fuser heat or less paper speed. The problem is I can' t figure out how to adjust either of these...

Recalibrate the colors. Flaking is sometimes caused by more ink/toner than can be fused to the media. There's a limit for the total amount of ink/toner. Yours may be set too high.
You'll need a copy of the Printer's User's Guide (also Downloadable from

Controlling Color Density

When colors look faded, adjust the toner color density to extend the life of the components.

Print and use the Color Reference Page 1 In the printer's front panel, scroll to Calibrate Colors,

press Menu and print the Color Reference Page. 2 Compare the Color Reference Page to the Color Density

Samples on page 39. Make a note of the value (-10 to +10) for each color that most closely matches the samples.

3 Adjust the density for each color: Enter the value noted in Step 2 in the Calibrate Colors menu, under Adjust Each Color.

? Decrease color density: Press . ? Increase color density: Press --->.

4 Reprint the Color Reference Page; check your adjustments

My Phaser is not printing colors correctly. I

the best way to do that is to take the ink cartidges out take a clean cloth of somesort and lightley dab the place where the ink comes out if that doesnt work try to take a little bit of rubbing alcohol an dab at the ink opening this will make the colors come out alot brighter and fuller

hope this helps!

Xerox 6280 printing of blue looks like grey

There is a procedure called Tec Color correction. Go to Click on support and drivers. Enter 8200, then search. then click support again, then in the search box enter tec color and it will give you the step by step directions. If that does not work then you would most likely have to replace the print head. If your using non xerox ink, then you may want to try replacing the ink with Xerox brand ink and purging out the old.

Color issue

If you moved it when it was warm, most likely you have spilled ink into the print head.
If it was shut down for more than an hour before moving it. There is a Tek Color correction you and run. You may have to go to the website and download it and run it.
I would also suggest updating the print driver.
But my guess is moving it damaged the print head and it will most likely need to be replaced.
Also if you go into the print driver properties, you can adjust each color intensity and saturation, you may be able to correct it in that way.
But from experience, I really suspect a faulty print head.

The first obvious question is, "Does it have blue ink/wax?" Is it displaying any errors? Have you tried the Xerox support site? They have a fantastic utility that can connect to your printer and diagnose many problems. Here's the URL for the utility: They also have a wealth of information in their knowledge base. Here's the URL for the support page for the Phaser 8400: Did anything happen before the blue quit printing? Have you tried running a cleaning cycle?
