I have a Xerox 8500 DN and it is not recognizing the maintainence kit, have tried compatible and OEM Xerox kits but can not get to identify. on troubleshooting Test: 57 Drum Maint. Kit :Ck DM contact processing data No transaction found BB00400 FAIL RO: unidentified check DM contact. Error comes up on troubleshooter. It tries to find it when turned on but all new maint. kits I put in it won't recognize. any suggestions?

That error signifies a problem with the printhead tilt, you need to replace the Process motor camshaft pivot kit, part number 8560-Z2.

This error is due to the printhead being stuck and can't tilt, you need to replace the camshafts & pivot plate, they come in a kit, part number 8500-Z1
No. That maintenance kit has a chip attached to it. That will reset the machine, It is just a white roll impregnated with silicon to clean and maintain the surface on the drum. It will take replacement of the kit to reset the machine.
Also, I think there are two wiper blades on the 8560, one is on the maintance kit and the other is supposed to be removed, that was the old 860 that could remove theirs. Perhaps cleaning it will be fine. just open the top of the machine and its right there, give it a wipe and it should be fine. The other wiper blade on the maintanance kit and here is a link below to show you how to clean it!
Be 100 percent sure you have the exact right one. When that happens you normaly have the wrong kit. They can fit but have the wrong part number. Actually its common
Contact the company that you purchased the maintenance kit from.
They should have the solution or send you a replacement.
I know of no way to change the Xerox printer to match up with a non Xerox maintenance kit. They would not set the machine up to accept non Xerox products since that voids warranties.
