I have dell inspiron 1764. Froze. Restarted, after loading from blue Dell Inspiron bar came up with screen saying operating system not found

Press key and the power button to initiate diagnostic testing on your laptop. You want to see if there are any hardware errors, specifically the hard drive. If all tests pass then your operating system software is corrupted and needs to be re-installed.

Dell includes a series of tests for a system's hardware into the BIOS called the PSA+ Diagnostics. You can run these tests even if the system lacks any media (hard drive, CD drive, etc.). To launch the PSA+ Diagnostics on this system, perform one of the following actions:
  • Hold down the key while pressing the power button.
  • Turn on the system, press at the initial Dell™ logo screen, and select Diagnostics from the boot menu.
  • Disconnect the AC power and remove the battery. While holding down the power button, insert the AC connector into the back of the system. The system then starts and the message Diagnostic boot selected displays. The system then launches the PSA+ Diagnostics.
  • If all tests pass you will need to re-install the operating system software.

When I am typing all of a sudden a menu pops up as if I used the left mouse button, it continues to happen, then at times it is hard to remove it

Well you can disable the touchpad and use a usb mouse. Some laptops have a switch to disable but most you need to get into the bios and disable it from there.

Sound card replacement for dell inspiron e1405

The sound card is integrated into the system board (motherboard). If your audio circuit is defective then you will have to replace the system board.
Try running diagnostics on yourcomputer to see if you have a hardware problem. You should have a CD that camewith the computer that has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed undercontents. Boot form this CD and run the extended diagnostics.
If you don't have the CD you can go to and select "Drivers and Downloads". Enter the"service tag" (serial number) of the computer. You can then download"Diagnostics" .
To boot from a CD disk, power on your computer and tap the key tobring you to the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD into the top CD/DVD driveand then select "Boot from CD/DVD" and hit key. Select the"Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics.

If all tests pass then reload OS ( Operating Software ).

What makes the touchpad pointer go beserk sometimes. It either acts like a mad hornet flitting all over the place and highlighting blocks of texts so that the next keystroke deletes it or it bows up and...

Try to determine if it's a hardware issue or a software issue. Boot from a CD that you should have that has"Diagnostics andutilities" listed under the "Contents". You will have to boot from that CDdisk. To do this, power on your laptop and tap the key to bring youto the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD and then select CD/DVD drive and hit key. Select the "Run the32 Bit Dell Diagnostics". Select "Custom Tests" and run the mouse/pointer test. If your touch pad pad mouse passes then you have a software issue. If not then your palm rest (top portion of laptop with touch pad) needs to be replaced.

I have a dell inspiron 6000 laptop and now when i turn it on, it says something about a pb2 or pbr2. and then it dosen't boot. how can i fix it?

I am one of the Dell Certified System Expert.

I believe that your error is loading PBR

For this mys suggestion is to have the hardware diagnostic test by pressing fn+ power while the computer is turned off. It will run hardware diagnostics to check hardware functionality.

If everything pass then you can try to simply removing the USB drive, reseting the bios and restarting the PC.
If still nothins is being resolved then you can try to restore your computer back to factory state.

How to reinstall the OS:
If the PC restore is still intact use Fn+F11 when you start the computer.
or you can try to use the recovery CD.

Hope this will help you resolve the issue.

thank you for using Fixya

Computer with diskette drive 0 seek failure on dell inspiron 530 how do i fix that

That is a POST (Power On Self Test) error and happens before the operating system loads, in other words it isn't a Windows error but a hardware error.
Does the pc boot successfully after the error? Does the diskette drive work properly, can you read and copy files to it? In all likelihood the diskette drive might be "kaput". If you have a hardware diagnostic utility for the pc run it and see what it reports.
If the drive is bad just replace it with a new one, they're inexpensive
and easy to replace.

plz do rate the solution
