I have recorded an outgoing message. However, at the end of the new outgoing message an old obsolete outgoing message starts to play. How do I get rid of the old outgoing message?

Hi,
You will need to remove the old message. There SHOULD be prompts. IF NOT try going to a very quiet room and hit record but do not say or make noise and this will record silence over the old and new message. Then attempt to retry.
ALSO - look for a 'reset' button and remove all batteries if you have power outage back up batteries.
Unplug the phone - and try again.
Here are the instructions from the manual:
To Change Your Personal Greeting:
1. Press the Check Voicemail key or press the Feature button, then 981
2. Enter your password
3. Press the ADMIN softkey
4. Press the GREET softkey
5. Press the REC softkey
6. Press the PRIME softkey
7. Press the YES softkey
8. At the tone, record your new greeting, press the OK softkey to end your recording and then the OK softkey again to accept the new recording

Best of it

I have a Samsung T406 cell phone. How do I record a new greeting message?

That usually has to do with the cell phone provider's voice mail, not the cell phone.
Call your voice mail. Instead of listening to messages listen to all the menus.
You'll want something like "setup" "record new outgoing message" or things like that. Usually you can listen and choose to save or do a new recording. You might need to press star (*) or pound (#) buttons to save or cancel the recordings - or maybe numbers 1 or 2.

Answering and memo systems will not record or playback messages. All other phone fuctions work but the answering system. Phone was unplugged by mistake and batteries ran down. New batteries and setup...

I had the exact same problem. But mine was due to a slight power surge even though I had it plugged into a backup battery with a surge protector. I called RCA and they said this model has a history of answering system malfunctions with power surges. It has a two year warranty. Gave the girl my info from my receipt (although it sounded like I really did not need the actual receipt). She gave me an RMA # so they are shipping me a new unit. I have to pay for return of the bad unit though. Try calling them @ 1.800.511.3180 and explaining your issue. Good luck!

The pre recorded message on the answering machine has been lost.

I read thru the manual. There is nothing bout recovery of factory messages. If you recorded your own, try deleting it. Or unplug the base from power and try a reset. This is from the manual. At the end, I gave you a link to the manual!

Using a pre-recorded greeting
message
If you erase or do not record your own
greeting message, the unit plays a prerecorded
greeting message for callers
and asks them to leave messages. If the
message recording time (page 39) is set
to “Greeting only”, caller messages
are not recorded and the unit plays a
different pre-recorded greeting message
asking callers to call again.

NEED TO RECORD NEW ANSWERPHONE MESSAGE ON ONETEL OT150

To record a new OGM, on the Onetel OT150

Press "menu" on the base unit, then "up" once to record OGM 1 or twice to record OGM 2.

Press "OK" The existing OGM will begin to play. Whilst this is playing press and hold "MEMO"

Record your message, speaking close to the base unit. Press "stop" (square) when finished.

If you decided you don't like your message then, repeat the process above but when it tells you to record your own message press "stop" (Square) and the default will be reset.
