When you say 'remove cover'....where exactly is this cover ? There does not seem to be anything to un-do on the bottom of the unit....Do you unscrew a panel on the side of the unit or the top of the unit ?

Leave the unit unplugged for at least 15 minutes, It may have overheated the compressor and tried to start up again.
If you have a reset button in the back of the unit, reset it(Usualy close by the power cord)
Also You want to dump any excess water from the unit at this time, so you have a fresh start.
Once the compressor cools down 90% of the time your error code will clear itself out and reset back to normal.
Keep me posted.

This code means that the probe has failed.

The probe is located under the main board low inside the only silver metallic box on the bottom with the circuit board under it. Remove cover and you will immediaetly you see a 4 inch black wire connected to the main board tucked under and mounted. Unplug the white connector from board, power on, then carefully plug the white connector back on, turn unit off and back on, you should see all 3 mode lights now on steady , no pf error and it doesnt turn off, and you can change modes and temps.

PAC CT90?? no wonder you can't find the cover then... I've only worked on a PACL90 which was what I thought yours was based on the category it was filed under.

  • super_guy Nov 17, 2009

When I say cover for the PACL90, I mean the entire front and back cover piece. The front and back cover should be held together by a couple of screws. Once you get the screws off, then the cover pieces should pop off from the base. Then you will be able to access the main board which is located near the exhaust vent.

I haven't done this in a really long time, but I believe it takes around 30 mins to dismantle to get to the board

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

PF error means power failure which is generally caused when the control board inside the unit goes bad. You can try unplugging the unit for 15-30 minutes, if the issue returns then the control board needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Our telephone and answering machine quit working after a power outage. Pushed reset button but nothing changed. The letter E is in the window of the base unit. When unplugged the power supply and...

it sounds like the unit has taken a surge, which is a common side effect of power outages. unplugging and replugging make fix the issue but since you have already tried this, i would reccomend contacting the manufacturer. See if a replacement can be given or if you have warranty on the unit.

The E is most likly a refrence to general error. the main board for teh unit was probably damaged by the power outage.

I have a Kenmore Ultra Bake Stove, we had a power outage and neither the oven nor burners works. The code on top reads PF 5Ab. What can i do to reset the stove?

PF is usually power failure.
If "PF" appears at any other time, a power failure occurred. To remove "PF"and to reset the clock, press STOP/CLEAR.

Unplug the unit for half an hour or so to see if it will reset.
If not try to get into the diagnostics so you can see if there is a stored
error code

I have a ' Firenzi ' electric oven which has ceased to function after a recent power cut. The word ' STOP ' appears on the display. Can you help? Regards Norman Dayton

HI. This will occur when a surge has entered the unit, due to the power outage. Normally, there will be a power surge when the power is re-introduced to the home circuits after a brief outage. This will damage most unprotected electronics in this situation. The most vulnerable area in the unit will be the main control board. I would advise to try a hard rest. You can initiate this by simply shutting down the appropriate circuit breaker, or unplugging the unit for 5 minutes. Once the 5 minutes have passed, kindly re- introduce power to the unit, and try to run a baking cycle. If the word stop, or PF illuminates on the display, this will confirm that the surge has damaged the board. It must be replaced, in this case.

PF Flashes? Any ideas?

PF simply means your Power Failed sometime since the last use.
Power off and Power on to remove the PF Code.

Flashing pf

pf indicates power failure, even a slight glitch in the power can cause this. If stop/clear does not clear the fault, unplug the unit for a few mins. and plug back in. pf may reappear, again press stop/clear, this should clear the error at this point if it had reappeared. if not then further investigation will need to be done.

"PF" indicates the electronic control detected a Power Failure.
This could have been caused a brief power outage OR may be an indication that the connections to the oven, either at the stove or at the plug are loose.
