Hi - I have changed the paper settings several times to photo papers, specialty papers, brochure papers, but nothing has worked. I don't see any option for card stock...thanks!

Thank you so much - I thought maybe that was the case. I'll look into lighter card stock.

I really appreciate the time you took to respond in such detail!

Thanks, Lee. I am pretty sure at this point that the card stock paper is too thick for the printer.

    I really appreciate your help!

Hello. Thanks for choosing Fixya! Unfortunately, your printer is not designed to handle card stock. My recommendation would be to call your local paper store, staples, office max etc. and find a lighter weight card stock that your printer can handle. Also, never load more into the paper tray than to the top of the sides of the tray. I know the lighter weight card stock will solve your problem.
That said, lets talk about card stock. The term card stock is used to describe paper with weights from 50 lb to 110 lb (about 135 to 300 g/m²).In the US, card stock thickness is usually measured in points or mils that gives the thickness of the sheet in thousandths of an inch. For example, a 10 pt. card is 0.010 inches (0.25 mm) thick (roughly corresponding to a weight of 250 g/m

So, as you can see, there are a variety of card stocks to choose from. Good luck with it. Regards, J.

Hi, Have you changed the printer properties to reflect the different paper? I assume it is a different size. You can do this in the printer's properties itself located in control panel>printers and faxes, or change it on the actual print job itself. Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,
lee

Did you still need further assistance. Also does printer print regular paper just fine? the stock you are using could be to thick for this printer to handle. If you still need any assistance please let me know.
    thank you,
    Lee

I have an HP Photosmart A646 printer that I bought in the hopes of printing to 5x7 card stock. We have pre-printed card stock that we use for gift certificates and we need to be able to feed the card stock...

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

Depending on the program you are using to print your gift certificates, try this-

1) Open the program and open the file you use for your gift certificate.
2) Click on 'Layout' then 'Page Set Up' (probably found in the top menu bar by the right side of, FILE.)
3) Select 'Landscape' and then select, 'Custom'.
4) Enter 5x7 for height and width.
5) Enter the information you need in the data field, (ie, name address, etc.)
6) Select, Print.
7) When the 'Print Manager' box opens, click on, 'Properties'.
8) Click on, 'Type' and choose, "Envelope'.
9) Click on, 'Size' and choose 5x7. - and click, OK.

Your printer should have a slide where the paper is inserted. Place one of the 5x7 cards in the slot just as you would an envelope and slide the slider until it is 'close' to the card but not directly against the card.

Click, 'Print'. The printer should recognize the card (due to its thickness) as an envelope and print it.

Blank pages between printed pages

This can be a issue with the setting of the page type is off, such as card-stock, transparency and so on. Check to see if the setting for the page type and size are set correctly, ive seen issues like this when the settings are not correct. Let me know if this worked.

Is it set to "default printer?" Right-click the printer icon and set it to default. Also, right click the printer icon and go to properties, then click "print test page" to test your printer.

HP C4280 incorrect paper feed

Check your printer's capability.

Buy the card stock they recommend.

If all else fails, print on plain and take card stock to a copy shop and have them do it for you.

We have had the same problem. I have found that if I close all windows not being used on the computer, then try to print the document again the entire document prints. This happens on an older computer we have that doesn't have alot of RAM.
