I just purchased the LCD42V68PAM and hooked everything up. Everything works except the picture quality is very poor. I've tried adjusting everything I can (frequency, sharpness, contrast etc) but nothing seems to improve it. I am using an S-video cable.
Hello Paul. I have this same monitor, but rebranded, Access the service menu with the remote control:
With user’s RC 1. Power TV On 2. Press Menu button and call up User OSD Menu 3. Select Sound-> Balance 4. When Balance value is “0”,Enter 0->5->3 ->2 in sequence. Note: If necessary, re-do number keys. 5. Factory OSD appears. 6. Press the standby button then AC turn off and restart the TV, which can exit factory OSD menu.
Now you will be able to change the values for Red Green and Blue channels. I also hated this TV, but after adjusting the colors it's looking great! Hope you could fix it too! :)

It's an ultra-budget, ultra-basic model of 8.1 megapixels (far more than enough for all practical purposes) and typically sells for just under $40US or around £30 or less in the UK. Previously-owned examples are practically worthless.
Image quality is relatively poor (nothing to do with the 8.1MP, everything to do with poor quality parts and firmware) and the video function is picture only without any audio.

If the input to a HD tv is not in HD format the tv won't display an image very well. Be sure your input to the tv is compatible with the tv's technology for optimum performance quality Also re-check the input source (such as converter box, dvd player, etc..) and be sure you have the correct input/output ports connected properly. Try to reset all yout tv settings back to manufacturers defult specs. When an input signal is sent to the tv most modern tv's have software built in to select the proper format to display the input image. There may have been a mismatch communication error when your tv software tried to "handshake" with your converter box input signals from its firmware. So try a reset solution and re-connect the tv without the converter and see if that helps. If not e-mail me and I'll determine if the tv needs technical servicing.
Your problem is a combination of calibration of your TV and signal strength of your Dish system. Proper color calibration will remove the motion blur and SD issues in the average home. If you continue to have poor quality on your dish system after calibration, then Dish needs to check your signal strengths again. (AND fix it.)
