Question about XFX GeForce FX 5200, Graphic Card

Leadtek PX8500GT low profile video card

I need some help please. I replaced an ATI 158 MB card in a Dell GX620 (Pent(R) D 2.8 GH, 2 GIG Ram, DX9, Win XP SP2) with the Leadtek PX8500GT (512 MB). I removed all old drivers for ATI, downloaded latest drivers, and the installation went normally. It passes all direct x tests and DVD video and normal windows looks fine....but when I try to play games with motion (even old games that barely have any serious 3D requirements) the card struggles. The motion is jerky and graphics are blotchy. Everything is at default settings. ATI card worked fine and was quite smooth. Big thanks for a suggestion.

Thanks for your comment, but I'm not exactly following you. I removed the ATI drivers for the old ATI card, then installed latest NVIDIA drivers for new card. I am running the screen at 1024x768 32 bit color. Are you saying to turn shadows off? Can you explain how I would do that? Sorry I'm quite new to the whole game experience. Thanks!

what model is this small form factor ? mini tower?anyhow, here are the things that you may consider .
if its a small form factor unit then you may need to get a video card that is Low Profile
and also consider the power supply :
The ATI Radeon HD 4650 512MB Low Profile PCIe x16 graphics card should work fine with the 275w PSU.
Max power draw is 48 watts

Dell 4600 problem with new video card

if you can still log on to the Windows Advanced option, you need to go to the "enable VGA mode" then re-install your video card drivers.

**you can get it from this website:

To get to the advanced boot up menu's for windows, you need to press on either F8 or F5 button as soon as your computer is turning on. Like you have to tap those buttons.

Graphics card

Well, I'm assuming that you have a Dell OptiPlex GX620.

These computers come with built in video which means that there isn't a video card, the connector is connected directly to the motherboard.

This means that you'll need to find a compatible video card to install in your computer. I can't tell you for sure what is compatible because I don't know what form factor (physical box size) your system uses and smaller form factors require smaller sized cards.

Here is the user manual for your system:

Go there and choose the computer you have...
Select the link for "Desktop Computer"
This will give you information and links to find out what your computer specs are.
You will likely have an open PCI Express slot that you can use. The only question is whether or not you need a low profile care or not.
