Call HP and tell them the problem depending on how long ago it was you changed the board they may go ahead and do it for you for free anyway, they are pretty good about this talk to a person live and ask for the supervisor. They are not the only ones having problems with boards.

Hi:
You can plug in an external monitor to see if your laptop screen is the problem, but many of the people who had the system board replaced for this problem, got the same problem on the replacement board as well, due to HP installing new, spare system boards that were not the improved version. I would go back to HP and try for more support, no matter what kind of pain it is, as they produced some real lemon laptops in the dv series.

Any idea what's wrong with my laptop? The screen went black and wont turn on anymore. Was using it yesterday when it suddenly went black. Took the battery out and put it back a few times but all the...

Is the laptop an HP DV 2000, 6000, or 9000 series? If so you could be one of the many afflicted with a problem that caused many HP laptops to go poof. There was an issue with these series of laptops motherboards causing the screen to go black, and then not power on. There was a recall that made the manufacturers warranty a year longer (from 1 to 2 years) but that has long since passed. Since it is the main board of the computer, it's a several hundred dollar repair and is typically more expensive to repair than it would be to buy a new laptop.

Regardless of whether or not this is your issue, I would recommend re-seating the RAM or having someone who is familiar with computers do this for you. Basically by removing and re-inserting the RAM in the computer you ensure there is a snug fit as this could cause a similar problem.

Hp Pavilion dvt 1000 black screen

As the notebook does not boot up and as you have already reseated the memory modules and tried connecting external monitor and as the issue is unresolved. It is clear that the issue is due to internal hardware malfunction of the system board of the notebook. However, before confirming the same, I would recommend you to perform hard reset which would discharge the static charges from the notebook. You can follow the steps listed below to perform hard reset:
1. Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC and remove from any port replicator or docking station.
2. Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment.
3. Press and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds.
4. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook PC.
5. Press the power button to turn the notebook PC back on.
This will remove the discharge the static charges from the notebook. Now turn on the PC and check for the issue. If the issue persists, then it is clear that the issue due to internal hardware malfunction of the notebook and requires an onsite diagnosis. At this point, if your notebook is under factory warranty then I would recommend you to contact HP to get your notebook repaired under warranty.

Try pulling the battery out then holding the power button for 10 seconds. Put the battery back in.

If not search macbook pro recall apple has extended the warranty on some models due to a bad graphics card.

My Inspiron 6000 screen is blank. I can get an image on a monitor through the serial port, but when on its own, the notebook screen is black. I have noticed that there is a brief flash when booting up, but...

Hi ,

1. You can check the display on external monitor>If the display is blank on external monitor also, its pretty clear that there is an issue with system board

2. If the Exernal monitor comes up fine, it will be an issue with the display of the laptop, you can cross check the issue by booting the computer to BIOS, IF you get same response on BIOS as well. Its an issue with the Display itself you can replace the display panel.

Hopefully, its covered under warranty ;)

Black screen

Try to reinstall XP again, when prompted to partiton, select to do so.
You will lose everything on the hard drive and will need to reinstall all of your programs.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck.

LCD black but status lights are all on

Mostly due to ram or system board as you suggested. In case your product is still under HP warranty, I will suggest you call them, They will fix it for no charge. In case you are out of warranty, contact them anyway since they fix out of warranty PCs in case the problem is due to a defect they know about.
