Candy Nova CD 122 Dishwasher problems

My machine will not run a full cycle. After about 15mins the red light flashes fast and the cycle stops. When I open the door the base is full of water. I close the door and turn the dial to reset and the water drains, the water also drains on the rinse cycle???

My washer doesn't have a timer knob. It just has a programme select knob. It always stops mid cycle. Just cuts out and the red led flashes fast. When I open the door the water is cold even on the hottest heat setting. There is no pause in the running just a cut out. It drains ok though so no problem there

  • philjbevan Nov 16, 2009

Checked the impeller, no problem. The water is pumping in and out of the machine perfectly. The machine cycle is stopping dead mid cycle with cold water in the base.

  • philjbevan Nov 16, 2009

I don't have a timer dial, I just have a variable programme knob. You turn it to reset, wait for the light to stop flashing then turn it to the programme you want and walk away.

Hi, after reading all the helpful advice, I think my problem may be with the heating element/thermostat.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi.
After about 15 minutes it is often a heating problem.
The machine will stop at a point of the cycle when the problem is detected.

  1. Check if water is getting inside the machine, if there is no water at all, then parts that must be tested are in order : Inlet Valve, Pressure Switch/water level switch, and timer board.
  2. Check if the detergent drawer is opening. If it is not opening this will stop the cycle. the detergent drawer lock solenoid must be tested and eventually replaced.
  3. Check if water is warm. If water is cold, then either heating element or thermostat are faulty. I think this Nova is self-heating. If it is not a self-heating model, then part to be tested would be Hot Water solenoid on dual inlet valve. Timer board must be tested if the above is OK.
  4. Test pressure switch, floater switch if present, and ensure the pump is working on both recirculating and drain.

It would also be useful calling Candy at the number listed on the owner manual.
Regards.

    Hi.

Effectively, if the cycle stops after 15 minutes, then it is usually because of a heating problem.

What we call timer board is the control board located behind the control knob or the control pad.

    Thanks for asking us.

You likely have a problem with the timer if the dial doesn't advance to complete, but you can manually turn the dial and resume the cycle. Good Luck. I hope this is very helpful!

The heating element/thermostat will not account for water being left in the bottom of the dishwasher. You may have a problem with the element, but nothing you have posted leads me to believe that you do. The element does not evaporate the water, Hello!!??

Hi,

It sounds like your main wash pump has seized (or stuck). Disconnect machine from power & water, Tip machine on its back. Remove screws that hold the bottom tray on. Remove hoses to main motor, remove electrical connections & remove motor (one screw that holds motor is actually on the outside back of the machine(you will see what I mean). Try to rotate (unstick) the motor (this can sometimes be done by spraying a bit of WD40 and trying to rotate the impeller with a pencil (careful not to break any of the fins on the impeller. If you cannot rotate it, then a new motor will be required. Replace back in machine in reverse to removal. Or you may not be comfortable doing this your self, and may want to get a hands on tech on location. This is not really a home handy person repair.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

    Water-heating cycle

    Many
dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature,
as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after
it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set
temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

    On
others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher
temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't
being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or
thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never
continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle
    problem" is fixed too.

    Timer

    Timers
don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be
working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one
place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault.
Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

    Thanks!!

Hi
If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:
Water-heating cycle ..... Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows: On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time. On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.
Timer... Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these:
Drain line/air gap--A clog in this part is the usual reason that a dishwasher doesn't drain. Remove the drain line to clear any debris from the hose or hose connection at the household drain line connection. Reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.
Pump--You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher. Remove the lower rack, spray arm and support. Look for an impeller, a device that spins around and forces water through the spray arm. This is the wash impeller and beneath it is the drain impeller that pushes the water into the drain port. Replace it if found defective or worn out.
Drain valve/solenoid---The drain valve may have a solenoid with lever that sticks or frozen and prevents the dishwasher from draining. Free up the solenoid and lubricate the lever.
Belt---A certain brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. Replace it if broken or worn out.
Motor---Check it if turning or working.Turn the rotor manually to see if stuck and free it up. Replace if defective, it is not serviceable.

Are you able to check if the water is normal temperature or warm/ hot?

Can you try the dishwasher in a short cycle and see if it completes the cycle?

Candy nova cd112 dishwasher fills with water then stops working

nova cd112 this is a simple fix the machine has a electronic switch to add water to the machine it then has another switch to say the machine has water iin it , this switch is the one that is not working this is the one that turns on the element and heat the water .it costs around a tenner to replace u can find it as it is connected to the element via a wire conection .this a a common problem of over enginearing as this switch is not needed and is not on older machine .ie this switch can only come on when the machine has water in it in other words only after the switch to put water in the machine has been on.can this go on i hope u know what i mean lol. now u can replace this yourself or get an engineer it should take an engineer no more than 10/15 mins to fix better still have him bypass this switch and u will never haver the problem again as this switch is prone to going fixthis and the machine should last years no problem as its not a bad machine not quite a bosch but better than a zanussi or indicit etc hope this helps and may i just say that i tried everything including replacing the element ,stat and cpu non of which worked before realizing it was this .i must also say before u try this. Switch on your machine on put it on a universal cycle as u hear the water going in the machine open the door and add hot water as hot as u can close the door and the machine should do a full cycle including emptying and reheating the water this proves its not the cpu ,element or stat note the machine will not do the cycle without the hot water going in at the start if it does the cycle then its 100 % this switch hope this helps and sorry for the lond explantion bye

Dishwasher flashes on Fast Wash

I am hoping I have just fixed mine with same problem. Couple weeks ago started stopping at start of cycle with fast button flashing. Check filters so one on top of unside machine and one on tap if you have one on there. Mine were blocked but still wouldnt work. I pulled out machine to find a kink in the water pipe. I have straightened this out and up to now its working. Fast button flashing refers to water inlet problem.
