I would first make sure that there is not a build up of dust clogging the fan, or air intake area. If the temp indicator comes on immediately, when the set is first turned, on then it is likely the fan itself, or related control circuitry has failed. If you can see the fan, simply look to see if the blades are rotating. If they are not, and you can access the fan, check for simple solutions. The fan should have a cable and plug - make sure the plug is seated fully. Check to ensure no wiring, or other obstruction, is preventing the fan from rotating. If the set runs for an extended period and does not shut down it is also possible there is defect in the fan/temp sensing circuitry. This would be more of an annoyance issue. There are fail safe circuits to turn off the unit if it gets too warm.
