Re: speakers

Most speakers are 'Dumb' devices that means there isn't any information exchange between them and your PC. Other than your PC providing the source sound for your speakers to play.
Some sound cards can detect that speakers or a microphone are plugged in but not what type.

Possibly your sound card on your PC is not working or you have the speakers plugged into the wrong sockets.

Altec lansing imt620 no sound, everything else works fine (speakers are ok)

Pardon my question; but what do you mean everything works fine? Have you attempted to attach the speaker system to an other device, such as a Receiver, DVD player, TV, etc? First check and see if the System works on other electronics and if it is working, then you go back to your computer and start from there; and I assume "everything works fine" could be the computer. The Altec is one of the best systems out there and their quality superior. It is rare to get a new Altec in a defective state as they do a great job on quality control.

Speakers will not "turn on",

Hi. You might want to try a different set of speakers or try the Altec Lansing on a different computer to isolate the issue. This can tell you if the problem is with the computer's sound card or your speakers. If the speakers won't work with any PC, try checking if the wires are all good and/ or soldered properly. Be cautious while doing this. make sure the speakers are not plugged in to any power source. I hope this helps. :-)

My logitech surround speakers won't play anything form of web based stream content. everything works fine in windows and w/ winamp but they wont work online. Runnin xp, and firefox as my browser.

Check for updates for both the sound drivers and Firefox. Also, test another browser and see if issue persists. If problem is only present in Firefox, follow the steps here to see if this helps.

My computer does not regonize any audio devices

From a distance, it sounds like you do not have the sound card drivers installed. Since it is a SoundBlaster card, go to and download a utility that finds, indentifies, and then installs the drivers for your sound card. That should fix the problem. If not, then you have other issues going on with motherboard drivers not being installed installed.

Computer Speakers

Try and plug your speakers into a friend's computer and check if they work. If they don't, then the speakers are fried, probably because of a voltage surge when the power went out. If they do work on your friend's computer then you most likely have a bad port on your computer because of the power surge.
