Fisher Paykel GWL11 has a leak which I traced to

Fisher Paykel GWL11 has a leak which I traced to the Elbow Inlet which has a hole ripped out of it). When the washer runs, it still goes into the tub, but some of it splashes into the back of the washer and runs down. The amount that leaks is small, and I think it must have been going on for a while based on how the floor underneath looks. Also, in the last couple months there is an ocassional squeeling noise while the washer is filling. Some days I can do several loads with no noise, and others the noise is there with several loads. My questions are, aside from replacing the elbow inlet, should I be checking/replacing other parts underneath that may have gotten damaged by the water? I'm hoping the squeeling sound is just the wet belt slipping, and once the leak is fixed the noise will go away. And second, what can I do to keep the elbow from getting damaged again? I can't see how it could have gotten damaged like it did.
