There are a few things to check for. Make sure the electrode ( the small metal piece that the spark comes off from ) is clean and the holes in the burner are clean, use a pin or paper clip to clean out the burner holes and NOT a tooth pick as these can break off and make things worse. Example of a burner. The next thing to check for are theignition switches under the surface control knobs, the switches can twist and break and keep the spark module on and the spark keeps "clicking" even when the burner is light. If every thing looks good, you may have a bad spark module, replace it. Sometimes cleaning can get moisture into the surface switches, try drying them with an hair dryer to see of this will help. Repair and checking tips for surface burners.

it is very likely that the element has failed internally and as such, the only cure is a new element.

Ge oven jtp18 elements won't heat

The limit switch in a Ge oven usually works or is blown. I would look at the oven sensor located at the back of the oven. It should read approximately 1k ohm at room temperature.

GE Oven not working however cooktop is.

Usually the problem is the heating element. This is easy to check and usually inexpensive. Here is a video that will walk you thru testing and replacing an oven heating element. It may be a different model but the testing and replacement will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.

Only bottom of the electric double wall oven works . lts a 1969 G.E.

If you can, test for power to the element in the top oven. If there is power coming to the element, it could be that the element is bad and can be replaced. If there is now power coming to the top oven there could be a more serious issue in a 40 year old oven

I take it when you mention burners you are refering to electrical hot plates?

If you have tested with 110V --even nthough it should be 240V then I can assume that the hob is working.

Possible cause is the regulator.

First your broiler heating element may have gone bad and now you oven heating element may have gone bad. Using an OHM meter disconnect them and test for their value.Full scale on the meter means it is shorted. No meter movement means that it is open.Eitehr means to obtain a new element(s) and replace it/them.

GE Electric Spectra Oven botton element will not heat

If only one element does not work, then test heating element continuity using a multimeter.
If oven does not bake or broil, then test temp probe.
If there is nothing wrong with elements and temp probe , then test wiring harness to control panel and timer control board.

Enter the model number on one of two websites below to get parts and diagrams for your appliance:

GE Electric wall oven

Hi there,

Not sure I can help you but will certainly try. Certainly sounds like the heating element - if not possibly a blow fuse. If you have a tester as in a light tester or proper electrical tester you should be able to turn the element on and test to see if it is getting power. If it isn't it may well be a fuse in the wiring. A lot of ovens these days do not have fuses and rely on the mains having a Safety Switch. Taking this into account I would say it is the element which you will need to remove so you can obtain a new one. With elements on most ovens you have to remove them from inside the oven and sometimes have to remove the back panelling to get to the wires to disconnect them. When you do make sure the power is turned off. Hope this helps.

Regards
Bryan
