The error that you are getting is caused when you use an old Windows XP CD without service pack 2 integrated. If you want to install XP on to the new system you must use an XP CD that has service pack 2 integrated.

Those error codes don't really mean very much to the general consumer, but blue screens of deaths are caused by bad RAM memory in your computer, not viruses. I'm going to take a guess that your computer is either several years old and/or it constantly get quite warm? Heat can shorten the life of computer components by quite a bit. You may need to get one of your RAM cards replaced to solve this issue.

There's a free program called Memtest86 that you can run to determine if this is the case. It will scan all your memory and look for bad sectors. You can download it here: http://www.memtest86.com/ and burn it to a CD. What it does is create a bootable CD that will execute the program as the computer turns on to scan all the memory. There are full instructions on their website. The process can take an hour or two depending on how much memory your computer has, and if it turns up any bad sectors then you know what your problem is.

A computer can run with bad sectors in the memory, but it makes it unstable that it will keep bluescreening, so if you have bad sectors in your memory it might be better just to replace the RAM. Luckily, this isn't too expensive. For instance, if your computer has 4GB of memory, it probably has 2 2GB RAM cards installed. You can get a 2GB replacement notebook memory for, I'd say $30 or $40. Installing RAM is very simple, and if you're willing to install it yourself, it won't cost you more than that.

I'm trying to install a windows xp on a new seagate 750GB Hard Drive and get this A problem has been detected and windowws has been shut down to prevent damage to your conputer. Technical Info. ***Stop...

normally this error occerd when there is any bad sector in your harddriver or problem in motherboard components.

first of all chek that is there any component like cpu or motherboard is overheating.
then check the fan speed of your motherboard.
clean the complete mother board with vacumecleaner and if components are not overheathing then restart and if fan speed is nomal then try to reinstall your os.
2nd option check your ram..

How to solve pci.sys error during reformating of the hard drive

You have two ways to solve the problem of "Pci.sys Is Missing or Corrupt"
Error Message When You Start Windows.

1.Booting with WinXP CD to access the Recovery Console’s Repair option,
and then copy from WinXP CD the missing or damaged Pci.sys file to
Systemdrive:\Windows\System32\drivers folder , Exit and Reboot.

start the recovery console and type:
set AllowAllPaths = true
expand d:\i386\pci.sy_ c:\windows\system\drivers32 /y
If you don't type
set AllowAllPaths = true you can't access the windows folder.

2. Booting with WinXP CD and then perform a Windows XP Repair Reinstall
of the currently installed system.

Blue screen when trying to install o/s from cd.

Not a lot of help here, other than to suggest it's caused by some hardware or driver conflict, but see this ms article. You could try then, this link to stop error codes, and these MS links here and here
I suggest you google "0X0000007E + pci.sys" and read the forums to see if someone out there has a solution...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Error code

Apparently the XP Pro CD you are using is pre-SP2, thus causing the error. With XP RTM and SP1, you need to supply the proper SATA drivers for the chipset on the motherboard since there is no built-in support for SATA drives. You can download the drivers from http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/DownloadFile.aspx?catid=1&driverid=2214&areaid=2&LanID=0

During the XP setup you will need to press F6 to install these driver before attempting to copy the XP files to the drive. Or you could make a custom XP CD using the directions at http://maxeasyguide.blogspot.com/2008/04/preparations-for-winxp-installation-cd.html that has these SATA drivers already slipstreamed into the installation procedure.

Or if you know someone who has the WinXP Pro SP2 CD, you could borrow that for the install.

I get the Blus screen when trying to install a fresh copy of XP on my nx8220

If you are installing a fresh copy, you should boot from cd, and not start it from windows. It is less error prone.
