If the router is not working, ie: the light on the PK5000 Qwest router that reads “wireless” is not coming on, then there is a problem with the router which usualy just means that the wireless option on the router is turned off. Steps:
    a. The paper manual doesn’t explain anything. Its garbage.
    b. Connect a LAPTOP directly through the Ethernet cord to the router.
    c. open an internet browser like explorer.
    d. type in the web browser
    e. a screen should come up with 5 options. Choose the option that says wireless setup. Click on that.
    f. Turn the wireless option on.
    e. (What you are doing is communicating directly with the router. The router has a memory chip in it and that’s how it gives you this information.)
    f. That page should give you the network key and any options to connect or to see if there is a problem with the wireless router.

Connecting with the ether net cord still does not allow internet connection. Light is on the modem showing the modem is working when i plugged the ether net cord in, , but still no connection. The laptop has a Broad com 802.11 card that was working fine, but the internet connection just shut off. Now, nothing works. Took it to a computer shop and they connected to the internet by using a USB device that loaded Windows XP (The OS that is on the laptop) and it loaded right up. Suggestions?

Dont worry about the disk. Login to router's web interface by typing the Address bar. Default Username: Admin & Password: password. Check if you have a WAN IP or Internet IP. If it is not obtained. Power cycle your modem which will obtain the WAN IP and you will be online. You can setup the wireless and security it with a WPA/WPA2 passphrase.

The ACTIONTEC GT124, M1000 and PK5000 Routers are not compatible with wireless-enabled all-in-one printers. These routers cannot connect to your all-in-one printer because they do not support the multicast protocol. Ip problem

It is common to have this as the default IP to connect to equipment.

I suggest you unplug your modem while you set up your router. You can also change the default IP for the router while in the settings. be sure to remember the new IP or you will have to do a factory reset to get it back to default
