Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP button) is the primary cause of door switch failure. You can visit my Web site at _ or e-mail at _ if you'd like more in information on diagnosing and repairing this problem.

Chances are you have a shorted high voltage rectifier, which is pretty
easy and inexpensive to replace, or a shorted magnetron, which is more
work and money.
We have the service / repair manuals for this model and have uploaded them to our site here and here to help you.
They will give you safety info, step by step help in disassembly, troubleshooting tips, and part numbers.
Most computers will open these documents automatically, but you may need the free Adobe Reader.
Here are some links you can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:
(if it's not shorted or burned, it's probably okay)
You can order parts from Encompass here http://tinyurl.com/7qy85y or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.
We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: Does not heat up
HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.
(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))

The symptom that you have described sounds like the magnatron has failed, the microwave oven looks to be approx. over 9 years old, at that age and with a failed magnatron it is not cost effective to replace the part, it would be best to replace the microwave oven at this point. Good luck!
