U r keyboard is likely to b defective or ur ram..
lightly strike/tap the keypad using ur hand..

if u r a professional, open the keyboard..deep clean all the carbon contacts beneath the keys using Iso-Propyl alcohol..put/stick 'Carbon-Dots' (available in cheap level spare market) as n where necessary..
hope it'll work..

better to seek professional supervision esp of ur system admin/vendor....

Press your Fn Key and the F11 Keys same time This will toggle the Upper Keyset on and off.... Yours might be a different "F" key so Look for the icon on the key with a square box and dots inside the box..

My a button is not working /typing at all what's wrong?

Keyboards sometimes become defect to. I don't think it is worth replacing the whole keyboard, because it could cost more than a new laptop. For the time being, you could try to work with a USB keyboard.

Reset button acer laptop

Laptops do not have reset buttons ! If your laptop is frozen and won't respond hold down the power button for about 20 seconds and force it to shut down. Only do this if you have no other alternative as it is not good for the hard drive of the laptop. Try the three finger salute first CTRL- ALT - DEL and select task manager if windows system and see if any processes or applications have frozen and close them then select shutdown from the task manager if it is not frozen up.

My Toshiba Satellite P755-s5320 letters and number will not work. Even the number pad on the right side won't work, and yes the num lock is on. I'm thinking my cat may have pushed a button or...

Yes you are correct the print box is displayed when Ctrl + P are pressed. When the Ctrl button is held down one will not be able to type numbers at all.

I think your Ctrl button is stuck, try pressing it repeatedly to unstick it.

Worst case you will need a new keyboard.

Take care!

Where on laptop is the wireless key button

To turn on your wireless internet connection theres sometimes a little switch on the side of the laptop or theres a keyboard button where you need to press the "FN" button down by the CTRL button and another button usually one of the "F" keys.

If this doesnt help please respond back with the make and model of your laptop so we can help you better.

Best of luck..

When I type the letter "s" I get the save file window. When I type the letter "p" I get the print window.

This means that your "Ctrl"button at your keyboard is pressed down. Take a look for something that is keeping either of the 2 Ctrl buttons pressed. Otherwise it's a keyboard's problem. Shut down the notebook and check the buttons for proper mechanical movement of the keys.

The mousepad on the laptop does not respond

This is the infamous CTRL+ALT+Arrow button issue. Simply hold CTRL+ALT and hit the UP Arrow button. Your screen will return to normal. Look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Some of the letters i type are coming out as numbers

It sounds like the Numlk (number lock) is turned on. You will need to find the button on your laptop called ScrLk or NumLk. Press shift and this key to turn off number lock, or it is ctrl and the ScrLk button.

Cannot Ctrl-Alt-Delete

Yes you can pop off individual keys. There are three parts to most keys: the rubber 'boot' which actually activates the keystoke, the flex connector which is the plastic 'X' support under the key that lets it go up and down, and the keycap itself. I usually use two precision screwdrivers, placing one under the left edge of the key for support while prying gently with the other on the right. Be careful as it is very easy to break the little plastic tabs on the flex connector that clip into the underside of the keycap. (They can be replaced for about $7.50 on eBay)

It is not unusual for a foreign object (paperclip, staple, etc) to get under a key and keep it from pressing down. Sometimes you can use compressed air or even tweezers (with a steady hand) to remove these without taking off the keycap.

Worst case scenario is an electrical problem preventing the keystroke from being sensed. A replacement keyboard would run about $35-40 and is actually pretty easy to install. I would check the warranty first at that point, it might still be covered.

And finally, there is the 'Onscreen Keyboard' as a part of XP, found in the Start Button->Accesories->Accessibility folder.
