Try turning it off and turning it on, if it has the problem again or doesnt come on I'd immediately return it to where you bought it and get a new one..

This is known as the yellow light of death on the ps3. This is a defect in the board. The first thing you should do is contact sony to see if the unit is still under warranty with this site: https://service1.us.playstation.com/rma.htm?_flowExecutionKey=_cAB96F84F-8DB4-2C4E-3368-C3B01BB770F5_k8997F39E-B8B8-B1EF-51B9-162937A6B113

If the unit is not under warranty, go to www.wiredextreme.com. We are a console repair company based in Texas, and we can fix your console. We give a free diagnosis of what is wrong with the unit, and will call with an estimate of repairs before any work is done. All our work comes with a 30 day warranty, and you can buy up to 4 years worth of warranty.

When i turn my ps3 on everything works but in 2-5 minutes it will beep ,the screen will turn off and the blue light turns red and blinks for a while..what do i do?

If the system turns on but then turns itself off, beeps at you and flashes it's lights at you then you have over heated the system. The GPU chip has probly pulled itself away from the board. This will require you to diassemble the PS3...

PlayStation 3 red light problem, but in most cases it comes down to the system overheating. The more it overheats the more damage is created internally to the motherboard and other functioning components...

It turns on but nothing comes up on the tv and wont turn back off

This is a problem with your system software. Please follow these steps to fix it :

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn back off into standby(red light on) . Release the power button after it has switched itself back off.

Step 3. Again, press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later, then there will be 2 quick beeps together. Release the power button when you hear these 2 quick beeps.

Step 4. The PS3 will start up asking you to connect a controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this an then continue to the next step.

Step 5. A menu will load with 6 options. Choose option 3 "Restore File System". Accept whatever the PS3 says and hopefully it will restart as normal.

If option 3 does not work, do the above again and choose option 4, "Rebuild Database". If this does not work as a last resort select option 5, "Restore PS3 System". THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA ON YOUR DRIVE!!

One of these options will bring your PS3 back to life.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Hi.when i turn on my ps3 it freezes at the main screen.please say i dont have to buy a new 1,i dont have the money. :(

Ok, if it is simply the image that is freezing and it is still staying on then there is hope for the PS3.
If however it is turning off with 3 beeps and flashing the red light then that is serious.

Please try the following if it is just the display freezing :

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and then beep one more time and turn off into standby mode (red light on)

Release the power button

Press and hold the power button again. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and this time there will be 2 quick beeps together. Release the power button when you hear these 2 quick beeps.

The PS3 will start up asking you to connect the controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then continue.

After doing the above a menu will load with 6 options. Choose option 3 "Restore File System". This will re-install the PS3 software if it has become corrupt. Ignore any messages about corrupt hard drive, this is normal. If this step does not work try the above again but select option 4, then 5 if that doesn't work.

One of these options should get your PS3 up and running again.

My hdmi cable only puts out sound but no picture. i even bought a brand new one. whats wrong?

Hi, all you have to do is the following :-

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it and then about 5 seconds later it will beep again. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Step 3. Wait for your PS3 to start.

This solution basically resets the video output back to standard definition.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa
