Xbox 360 not reading games (by 12 users)
my xbox 360 will read dvds but it wont read a game and ive replaced the disc drive what could be the problem

i insert my x-box game and close the tray,it says reading then says please insert game dvd or cd i dont know what to do.

my xbox 360 is hacked or flashed and it wont read any games.i kn ow is my drive.where can i fix it

I have done the same thing with the same results..I was reading on some forums that the dvd drive has to be flashed because each system has a key for the dvd drive and motherboard specifically, so when you put that foreign drive you have to flash the drive...its unclear if this is a definate solution. But what is clear is that, replacing the drive with a new dvd drive of the same model you took out of it, rules out the drive being the problem. So either there's a software problem which right now I think seems to be more likely, or a hardware problem with the video chip on board. Thats the only thing I can come up with so far.. Someone mighter than me please comment

i have had the exact same problem twice!!!
my first xbox 360 started to come up with the message 'please insert game dvd etc' and i would have to take my game out and then put it in again and the game would make a grating sound twice and then play but over time it wouldnt play anything anymore!
i took it back to the shop and the guy said it was a common problem, that it was like the red ring but a new problem and that i would probably be back in a few months to exchange again and yep sure enough i am gonna have to take it back again!
it is the laser!
i love xbox 360 for oblivion but i wish that i had gone with playstation3 and just thought to hell with the extra cash..........could do it now but then would have to replace all my games!
i have got a laser burn on one of my fav games too!
ahhh microsoft = dont ya just love them, they have made us so we cannot do without them and that makes me angry!!!

WON'T READ BRAND NEW GAME, KEEPS GOING TO SOME WHITE SCREEN THAT SAYS TO PLAY THIS DISC PUT IT IN A 360 CONSOLE?? IT'S IN ONE, AND OTHER 360 GAMES WORK ON IT??
