Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Water line freezes up in my side by side GE refrigerator. I have to turn the freezer off for 1/2 a day then turn it back on. It's only a temporary fix. Can there be a problem with the thermostat??

That is usually an airflow problem, or you may be sucking hot air and running too long, if you can open either door with the tip of a finger, it is a seal problem, put vaseline on the flat part of the gaskets, liquify with a blow dryer and leave shut for 6 hrs, this will reseal the gaskets, remember, touching does not mean sealing!!

GE Profile Icemaker freezing up; water freezes down inside wall of freezer; icemaker making ice, very slowly, but will not dispense. Water is still dispensing

This sounds like your water valve is not completely closing allowing water to drip and freeze. First check to make sure that the water tube going into the cup of the ice maker is lined up correctly and not causing this problem - if it is lined up correctly then replace the water valve on the back of the refrigerator that your main line is connected to.

GE gss22sgrf sidebyside water dispenser does not work, ice does

these unit have a problem with the water line freezing inside the freezer door. ge makes a tape style heater that goes inside the dispenser area to give just enough heat to keep it from freezing the water line.
you can try to change the freezer settings, warmer, clean the coils at the back of the unit and leave the freezer door open for 20-30 minute to allow the door to warm up and that will be a temporary fix to allow water to flow until you can get the heater kit.

Ge profile side by side is not dispensing water, have removed the line at door and there is not water coming out. What do I do next.

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate , 1 screw on each side ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .
If the door line is frozen , GE has a dispensor heater , pt # WR49X10173 , to help eliminate the freezing of the line .

you have a blocked drain, when the freezer defrosts the water should go down drain but yours is blocked,i use a steamer to do this and you can get one for 40 bucks it's a shark super steamer, look at the back wall at the bottom you will see the drain hole, melt it out with hair dryer and then blow out the drain line with the steamer or use something to snake out the drain,if you use a coat hanger or something watch out because the drain line is pastic, when you think you unblocked the line pour hot water down the drain and if it goes down your done, you might have to take the back freezer wall off if you can't get at the drain hole, good luck, slime builds up in the drain or some thing could be blocking it like a corn kernel or something like that and the water freezes up because it can't drain

Water dispenser suddenly not dispensing water

Remove the bottom kick plate . Follow the plastic line about 6" and you'll find a connector . Push in on one end of the connector and at the same time , pull the line out . Close the door and press for water . If no water comes out of the disconnented line , the water valve is probably bad . If water does come out , the line inside the freezer door is frozen . If this turns out to be so , you can lower the freezer temp for maybe days , or , put the food on the door, inside the freezer , tape the light switch down ( to keep the lite off and fan running ) and tape plastic over the freezer door opening so the freezer will continue to work . Reinstall the line back into the connector by pushing the hose firmly into place . Leave the freezer door open for maybe 1 or 2 days for thawing out , going by ocassionally and pressing the water dispensor . Important : lower the freezer temperature slightly to keep line from freezing again . ONLY CHANGE THE FILTER WHEN WATER FLOW SLOWS OR ICE CUBES GET SMALL . The change filter lite comes on by the amount of times water dispensor is used and to make money for the vendor .

Not getting water from dispenser in door

if you can get ice but not water from the dispenser then suspect a frozen water line within the door . Check you get water to the connector at the bottom of the freezer door. Sometimes you can clear the blockage by connecting a steamer to the pipe but this will only be a temporary fix . If the pipe has frozen within 6 inches of the dispenser outlet then there is a heater mod that can be fitted WR49X10173
