If you set up a remote other than the one it came with then you can only do it for ONE of the devices...not everything in the Combo. If it's a TV/DVD combo, then your remote is sending a POWER ON beam twice. (one for the tv and one for the dvd). What ends up happening is that the 1st beam turns on your tv and the 2nd beam shuts it off. To reslove this, don't program the DVD to work with the remote. Just turn it on when you want to use it

Jvc dvd and vhs combe hard reset fixes loading issu's and more

if you have any jvc dvd and or dvd , vhs combo and you have error codes or loading issue's a hard reset may fix this issue and is the step you should always preform before sending it in for service or giving up on it.

a hard reset is done by simply holding the power button and stop button at the same time until the unit turns off. turn unit back on and it will go back to base settings.

if this does not fix your issue service is required.

Can't get my new DVD/VCR to work.

I read the instruction manual one more time. It said to tune my TV to Video and voila, the VCR worked. All JVC VCR's seem to need the tv tuned to Video to play back. I had an older JVC VCR and I had to do the same thing with it.
Thanks anyway.

VHS won't work

Had the same problem on my JVC vcr/dvd combo unit.
You need to turn off the timer function. I did this by making sure my remote was in the "VHS" mode...turn the swith from TV to the right (found on the remote in the upper left corner...an then hit the "vcr" button. Then point the remote at the VCR unit and hit the No. 4 button (timer turns off). Your unit should not have the red timer displayed and you should be able to play your tapes okay.

Hope this helps.

The system or DVD recorder turns off itself

It could be because your unit is overheating. Shutting itself off is your player's way of protecting itself. Causes can be form anything to direct exposure to sunlight, Something heavy is on top of the player, to disk speed being to fast.

JVC HR-XVC37U Combo problem

You have the child lock (CL) turned on.
Your instruction manual will have the information about turning it on or off.

It's purely t prevent small fingers doing bad things to expensive electrical equipment. =)

If you cannot locate the info in the manual, post back and I will hnt the relevant info for you.

TV/DVD Combo

Is there a tape in the VCR by chance?.
Usually what happens on these combo units is the VCR develops a mechanical problem which inhibits the whole thing from working or overloads the power supply causing it to shutdown.
The ones with the VCR underneath are difficult to work on as the cables to the VCR are so short you have to disconnect it in order to get it out where you can see what is going on, then work on a solution, put it all back together, test it, rinse - lather - repeat. Takes forever sometimes. Find a good VCR tech and talk to him nice and maybe they will help you.

Whenever I turn receiver on, it turns off almost immediately

The amplifier blew out (probably shorted and damaged when wire was loose, and gave out under load). It won't be cheap to repair....
