Check that the duplexer unit (or the panel where the duplexer would go) is inserted and locked correctly. if it's not the printer flashes the power light on very briefly and will not power.

I cannot open my printer

hi there!

what kind of printer is this, the brand/model name? if you cant turn it on, make sure the power cord is plugged in tight on the printer and directly to the wall outlet (dont use power extensions for now). if its all plugged in, press the power button. if it doesnt light on, press and hold it for 30secs or until it turns on. if its still not responding, there may be a problem with the power cord or the printer is simply dead. if your manual said to reset it, try it too. but make sure you read the manual carefully for reset may even damage the printer.

No power

Try this: - Turn machine off; remove power cord; remove battery. - Without battery or power cord, press the power button and hold it down for at least 10 seconds. This discharges power 'residue' in the machine [and, I suspect gremlins]. - Reassemble power cord and battery. - Restart.

Printer doesn't turn's on

Per Canon:

Solution: Disconnect and Reconnect AC power adapter or power cord to the device and electrical source

Secure all Power Connections
  • Disconnect the AC Power Adapter or power cord from both the device and the electrical source.
  • Then reconnect it.
  • If you are still unable to obtain power to the device, try another power outlet.
  • If possible, try connecting power directly to a wall outlet (as opposed to using a surge protector or power strip...just as a troubleshooting measure).
If this does not work, have you tried a different outlet to ensure that the outlet isn't the issue? Also, when you press the POWER button, does the printer respond at all, or is it basically dead?

Please post back if you need further help, otherwise, thank you for using and rating FixYa!
