Yes it will solve the problem. But its not your problem its Microsoft's. Your printer wont work becasue the maker of your printer probably dont have the drivers for windows 7 yet already made. All you can do is continually recheck the printer manufacturers website for a driver update. You are not the first to experience this problem.

You can get third party software for your scanner from the Hamrick website. The software is called VueScan.
I can't guarantee compatibility, however the best way to test this, is to download the free trial off the website.

I AM NOW WITH WINDOWS SEVEN AND CAN'T OPEN MY HARDDRIVE TO VIEW WHATS ON IT, HOW CAN I ACCESS MY PICS AND FILES, IT WORKED FINE WITH MY OLD COMPUTER WINDOWS XP

Do you have access to your old XP machine, the easiest way for you would be instead of tinkering around with drivers, filesystems, recovery programs. Boot up your XP machine, map a shared drive to your new windows 7 computer and copy the files over. If you do not have access to the old computer, let me know.

Tip

Windows Installation Disc VS Windows Upgrade Disc -NOT THE SAME-

Having Trouble Booting To Your Windows Upgrade Disc?

...Upgrade discs aren't bootable discs. To repair a windows installation, you must use either a system repair disc or, better yet, a windows installation disc (genuine Retail/OEM discs are pretty much your only option to completely reinstall your windows operating system, unless you own a previous full installation disc of a previously released Windows version (such as XP or Vista), in which case you could install that windows operating system and then upgrade to a newer windows OS like windows 7. however if you ever need to reinstall windows 7, you would either need to reinstall the older windows OS, then upgrade to the newer one.

If that isn't clear, I'll sum it up....

Let's say you bought a computer, that computer had windows xp home edition. Maybe you wanted to upgrade from Windows XP/Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Well in order to switch from Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7, (or even from Windows 7 home premium- to windows7 Pro or Ultimate), then you must either:
A) Buy an upgrade disc and upgrade to the newer desired version.
B) Or, Buy a Retail Copy of the version you want to install. (keep in mind that a retail Windows 7 disc can be used to perform an upgrade rather than to competely wipe the hard disc and perform a clean install (delete partitions, reformat, and perform a new windows installation), if you so choose.

The bottom line is, you cannot Install a fresh clean copy of windows using an upgrade disc. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and Retail Windows Operation System Installation Setup Discs are "Bootable Discs". Windows Upgrade Discs are NOT bootable. (unless one where to "modify that particular disc, which is not legal).

Upgrade for windows xp

You have a very old operating system. Check if your computer can work with higher operating systems. Windows XP copies are hard to find right now. I suggest you go for Windows 7 or 8.

Operating system not found

No, you won't get the OS to automatically install on the new drive. The OS is not stored in the BIOS chip (or a similar permanent location inside the computer). You will need an OS install disc (not an upgrade disc). Windows Vista Home Premium or Basic was the original OS on most of the Acer Aspire 4530 series. Acer appears to have drivers for the system for XP through Windows 7 to get the hardware to work. You will need to have these most of these ready before you install your OS. Put them on a flash drive or optical disc using another computer.

This computer may work with Unix as well. However, driver issues may be a factor. You can try most versions of Unix from a CD (LiveCD) to test it out.

When you get a new hard drive, install it into the laptop. Then put the OS disk in the optical drive bay. Boot to the optical drive. Follow the directions for formatting the hard drive and installing the OS. (Of course you will need a drive that doesn't have a higher capacity than the BIOS supports.) The motherboard needs to recognize the drive.

If you find a member of a Windows User Group, they may have Windows install discs available. The license number on the label of your computer will probably work as your license key. (The key for a computer like this is locked to the CPU and motherboard; unless someone upgraded the OS to Windows 7 or downgraded to XP, this should be the key you need.) Use the information on the label to obtain the correct version of Vista (the Basic install disc may not work for installing Home Premium). You also need to match the 32-bit or 64-bit install disc (and the service pack you need).

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(An Acer recovery disc wouldn't help you. Most of those are completely locked to the original hardware (including hard drive) and look for the recovery partition that was on that hard drive.)

Hi, I installed win xp professional on Acer Aspire 5742z. I am not getting any drivers for xp on the net, can you please help me.

Sorry, but on the Acer official website, they only have Windows 7 compatible drivers. This means even if you find any driver that installs on the computer, it will not function to its full capacity. You should upgrade back to Windows 7.

It is possible to put XP Pro on my acer aspire 5735-4624 and where do I find the drivers. It currently has Vista with no installation discs and no feature to allow for PC backup discs to be...

Probably not. If the computer was built for Vista, there is a good chance that there are no drivers for XP. I suggest you upgrade to Win 7. Very soon, XP will be an end-of-life product. OMHO, you are wasting your time going to XP.

I have updated my computer to a Windows 7 version and my PrimaScan Colorado 2600u driver does not seem to be compatible

Hello, I've looked around on the website and there doesn't seem to be a driver for this device to work on Windows 7. It doesn't support this operating system, sorry.
You can either downgrade to Windows XP or get a new barcode scanner.

When we try upgrading xp to windows 7 the upgrading failed because our cpu is old can i upgrade my xp to windows 7 using a old cpu or use a new cpu

NO you cannot, on that same computer, no matter what OS, because, you MUST change your central Processing Unit, CPU. To allow Windows 7 to work correctly.

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.

More information is here:

You may want to consider upgrading rather than downgrading.
