My brother has blocked Facebook through the router but when I got access to it, it asked me for the name and the password. Does anyone know how to get past that easily???

Depends on the model router you have.
Generally connect either wired or wireless. Open a internet browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. A log in for your router may appear and ask for a user name and password. The default for Linksys is user = blank (nothing) and password = admin. If the default has been changed you'll need the user name and password to access the configuration menu.
Then look for URL filter under the Advanced tab or Access Restrictions tab. Type the URL of the website you want to block in the blank. Some will allow you to edit the days of week or times it will not allow access. (ie you can block access M-F and allow on weekends.) Click on apply, submit or save and exit out of the menu.
These are the possible reasons why you can't open your Facebook/ Facebook Account
1. Wrong email and password - Please check if you are using the right combination of your email and password. If you forgot your password, you can reset it by clicking the forgot password below the password box.
2. Blocked sites. If you are navigating from your school, may be the administrator has blocked websites such as Facebook and other social networking sites.
3. Router block. Some wireless routers have features that can block URL using its URL blocking interface.
4. What country are you from? - Facebook must have block access from your country.
5. Your account was hacked. If you're account was hacked/block or disabled for some reason, got to Facebook Help Center. And follow the instructions that suits your needs. I once locked my account because it was hacked. And then followed the instructions sent by Facebook Help. In a week, my account was reinstated. Pay attention to detail and be patient.
If your Brother Blocked It, hw was probably smart enough to change the access password to the router, so, either get it from him, or you better start reading fast in the router instruction manual on how to reset the box.
Go to A dva n c e d tab -> Filters then enter "facebook.com" in a "Website Blocking by URLAddress" field. You can enter up tofour URL addresses. You can aslo try the "Website Blocking by Keyword"field and just "facebook" there and see if that blocks facebook.
Try the reset button again until it resets. If that doesn't work then you might try unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for a while and hope it looses it's memory. Eventually it should reset using one of those methods.
Also next time instead of trying to block facebook and youtube thru the whole network try blocking it for one particular pc instead, which does require that you used assign ip addresses instead of dhcp but allows that kind of control.
You could also have administrator privledges on the kids machines where they login with user name. Then go under IE and block the sites there.
It probably has been blocked at the modem or router. You would have to have access to the modem or router which is usually 192.168.2.1 or something close to that. But you have to know user name and password. In the modem and even most routers have the ability to block particular websites that they may not want employees to access. If the company is wanting to remove the block and doesnt know the password they can call the particular manufacturer of what ever brand it is and normally get it reset. Most dont have a forgotten password email option.. Sorry......
First of all you need to know the router they are using.. Secondly, the user name and password they use to access the configuration of the router This is where they input sites that they want to block so that it cannot be access by the computers connected to the network.
by router name they are asking about the router model number not the network name... password is the password of the user account provided for accessing the router...
THANKYOU SOOOOOO MUCH, I UNBLOCKED IT!!! U RULE!!!!
