The Dell 926 indeed has a USB connector in the back near the power connection. You will have to have an available USB port on your computer, but you can connect it and still be connected to your network.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Hp laserjet p2055dn blank display

Similiar Blank Display solution from HP web site:

HP LaserJet P3005 Printer Series - Blank Display
ISSUE: Printer has a blank display.
SOLUTION:

Check if the printer is connected directly into a wall outlet. If not directly connected, power off the printer and connect directly to wall outlet.

Disconnect any local or network connection from any device and keep the printer connected with the power cord cable.

Power cycle the printer. If the issue persists, continue with step 4. If the printer powers up to READY, perform the following steps:

Print a configuration page and check the firmware version. If the printer does not have the latest firmware version, upgrade the printers firmware. Click here to see the latest firmware available for your printer at www.hp.com/go/support . Select Download driver and software (and firmware) and type in the product name or select the product from the product category list.

When the firmware upgrade is completed, power cycle the printer and print a configuration page again and check firmware date code, (it should change to the latest version) then power cycle the printer again.

If the printer powers up to READY, plug the local or network cable back in and print a Windows test page by printing from any application.

If the issue persists, continue with step 4 below.

Remove any additional memory DIMM installed (usually the LaserJet P3005N, DN and X come with a 32 MB memory DIMM installed), and any Internal EIO card or internal hard disk installed and then power cycle. If the issue persists, continue with the next step.

Perform a cold reset:

Turn the device off.

Turn the device on. When the memory count begins, press and hold the check button. Continue holding down the check button until all three device control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds

After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press the arrow up or arrow down buttons until COLD RESET is highlighted.

Press the check button. The device performs a cold reset and then continues its power-on sequence.

If the issue persists, continue with the remaining steps.

If the printer powers up to READY, test the printer functionality by printing internal pages. Plug the local or network connection in and test the printer from the workstation.

If the issue persists without any internal device installed, the printer will require service.

I have a 905 Lexmark printer and I want to use Smart Solutions. I have a H.P. desktop computer. I assume I would choose "wired" when given an option to choose when choosing a Network...

Lexmark Platinum Pro905 ????

Your Specification Sheet which under STANDARD BOX CONTENTS tells what was shipped with your printer. You should have received a USB cable which you can use to connect your printer to your PC.

If you want to connect to the printer through a wired network (usally via a router) then you will need to purchase a network cable, or rather a Cat. 5e cable of the appropriate length with RJ45 male connectors on both ends. This would be plugged in to the Ethernet port on the back of your computer. The reason for doing this is if you have several computers accessing your network printer they can do this directly without relying on the computer with the printer connection being turned on.

If you do not have a wired network or several computers accessing the printer you do not need to connect a network cable. Windows should detect your printer when you plug in the USB cable; it should not be necessary to work through the Add a printer function.

You don't have to choose 'wired'. You do have the option of setting up a wireless connection to your printer through a wireless network. Your printer has a built in wireless printer server and you can set up your printer to connect to your network without running a network cable.

Suggest you refer to page 101 of the User Guide for details on setting up the wireless network.

Trust this is helpful.

Cannot connect via Remote Desktop Connection

due to the open ended nature of the question ... I am assuming you wish to connect to you rpc from another pc using RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) or commonly known as remote desktop.

if connecting on internal network without any firewalls, start RDP and connect via name or ip address to the other computer. Follow the steps highlighted HERE and you can't go wrong for windows 7.
If external ... please note ... ports 3389 should be enabled on your firewall router. As there are plenty of routers/modems on the market, it will be too numerous to mention here, however, it is commonly noted as NAT'ing or Port forwarding to enabled ports 3389 and redirect the link to you local machine on the internal side of the network. from an external network ... just connect to it's public ip address and you shoul dbe able to connect to your internal machine via rdp. good luck ...

Projector fires up, menus display, search finds the attached computer but all that displays is a blank screen, no desktop. We had a lightning storm last week that spiked a network switch and two printer...

try brand new cables. I think a spike would possibly do this, doubtful though since the projector itself is not fried. also try reflashing the unit with the newest firmware.

Can't print to HP 2600n over network

The LaserJet 2600N has a built-in print server and can be connected to the local network (normal ethernet cable) directly. While printer sharing via Windows should work, I found it much more convenient to access it without the need of a hosting computer - you do not need to switch on the desktop PC for printing from the Laptop, for example, its also printing faster.

Cannot print from laptop to printer using wireless print server

This is probably the Software Firewall on your laptop

you should probably tell your firewall software that you have an internal network (Laptop-desktop-printer) you should add the IP range of the wireless network as a trusted network.

Internet no longer working, but internal network is fine.

i agree with all the above.. it's definately clear as mud how the network is designed and or funtioning. The machines connected to the wireless d-link router.. are they via cat5 inthe wired ports or wireless ? is the server the machine thats connecting to the switch and wiress router and modem? i'd say reset all switches modems routers and machines.. shut them all down.. then fire the cable modem, then the wireless router then the desktop switch then the server, the workstations and the one lonely wireless.. run "ipconfig /all" on all machines and if they aren't all sharing common ips and access, provide the results here for further investigation.

Network Vista Wireless Laptop to XP Desktop & Print Documents

On the desktop machine - go to the printers folder, right click the icon for the Laserjet and choose sharing (enable print sharing). You should be able to name the printer and make it accessible to anyone within the workgroup. If needed you can run the network setup wizard to change the workgroup names on both machines.

On the laptop go to add new printer and choose network printer, you should be able to browse to the desktop machine by name and choose the Laserjet as a printer (whether you want it to be the default is up to you). The laptop will download and install the drivers from the desktop pc to the laptop and set the correct network path automatically.

It goes without saying that the desktop machine must be on in order to print from the laptop in this scenario.

I get internal error- false

DavidWil

I found the problem with my non-networked Samsung ML-1610 laser printer.

I had it plugged into a 4 way (unpowered) v2.0 hub.

When I plugged it directly into a USB port on the computer the printing error disappeared.
