"non-stystem disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready"

Sounds to me like the hard drive has gone out on it.

If you turn the laptop over you will see a couple panels that can be removed... There will be one that has what looks like a circle type design by it that indicates hard drive access... If you cannot find this icon its not a big deal as the screws are just phillip head screws..
1. Remove panels
2. Verify Hard Drive is seated properly. (Might disconnect then reconnect to make sure)
3. If you can tell the make and model of hard drive this would be a good time to write it down. (I.E. Toshiba, Western Digital, Seagate)
4. Replace panel

Try booting the computer again. If the problem continues then you need to online and do a google search for hard drive diagnostic bootable disc for your hard drive. Most of these programs are universal and can do a cross platform basic checks on hard drives.
To go into more detailed diagnostic you are best to use the software designed by the maker of the hard drive.

1. Download test disc and burn
2. Boot laptop from cd-rom using bootable test disc
3. Run diagnostics.

If it fails then you have a bad hard drive and you will need to replace the drive.

Hi. When I try to turn on my HP mini it tells me to "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" I have tried almost everything I know how...

Your hard drive appears to be corrupted. Your computer is telling you that the boot sector cannot be read. If you have recovery discs, you may try a recovery. A full recovery will erase all your personal files. If it gives you an option to restore to an earlier working startup or repair startup, choose those options first.
Since it is an HP, it will give you the option of running the recovery program from the protected area of the hard drive when the HP screen comes up during startup. Pushing F11 during the startup screen on an HP will nomally take you to a recovery mode. F9 may take you to a diagnostic and you can check your hard drive from there.
You can press F10 to enter the Setup menu. You can check your basic settings to see if the computer is registering your hard drive. Do not make any changes in the Setup Menu unless you know what you are doing.
You can boot your computer from a bootable DVD or USB device (press Esc key during startup to change your boot order) and then try to copy your files to a USB drive. Once your files are safe, you can attempt to recover Windows without fear of losing your data.
If you are handy with your hands, you can remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer via a USB adapter to copy your files to a safe location or/and run diagnostics.
Quite often, a virus will target your boot area of the drive rendering it unable to boot your computer, but the drive and your data can be recuperated. USB adapters for laptop hard drives can cost you as little as $10 on Ebay.
Good luck

In my compaq laptop hard disk is not operating while same hdd is working in other laptop

Windows uses Registry Keys, from XP onwards. If you remove a working bootable hard drive from your pc and place it in another pc, there is a very real possibility that the Registry will record foreign Keys as it is in a different pc and delete some of the Registry Keys, making it non bootable. It can even render the information, files, documents etc un readable.
I suggest refitting the hard drive and running the recovery programme in the hope you can rebuild the Registry Keys. Then run CHKDSK/F to detect any errors on the surface of the disk.
Hope that fixes it.

I have a HP Pavilion dv2722tx,and last time i buy that time, the technician help me format my laptop to window xp not original one,and then after 1 year my laptop window currupted, and i want format window...

Hey,
What u need to do first is go to bios - check for the tab tool or
Diagnostics - check wethere u can run a hard drive self test check for the results , if u get error 1-07 or 1-08 or any error then the hard drive has gone bad, if it gives u error cannot find hard drive then u need to reseat the hard drive.
The hard drive compartment is at the bottom of the Notebook , a compartment with 3 circular disks placed one over the other.
After u have removed the cover , u will find a black stirp which u can pull and the hdd will come out with it put it back again and then check in bios if it is getting detected under tools or Diagnostics, if yes then put the cd for xp in and keep tapping the ESC key on the keyboard ,it will give u boot option choose CD DVD Drive and press enter .

Reformating starts.
( If hard drive is not getting detected even after reseating then hardware issue with laptop needs repaire .. harddrive connectors have gone bad.)
