My phillips freevent LS1400 is gone into sleep mode and the lazy thing will not get up help i have tryed everything

Sleep Mode problems are ofter caused by a corrupted display adapter driver - try this:
1. Restart computer whilst constantly tapping the F8 key to get to the screen where you can select Windows Safe Mode.
2. Select Safe Mode without Networking - the computer will appear to stall for a short while but then it will enter Safe Mode and take you to a basic desktop.
3. click START then RIGHT CLICK on My Computer and click on Properties.
4. This opens the System Properties box - select Hardware then Device Manager
5. When Device Manager box opens double click on Display Adapters then double click on the display adapter itself.
6. This will bring up the individual display adapter box - click on 'Driver' at the top of the box.
7. Here you will see a number of options to check out your display driver but if you do check, Windows will probably tell you the driver is OK but it is LYING!!!
8. Trust me need to click on the option to uninstall the driver.
9. The display adapter driver will then be deleted.
10. Click the usual options to get back to your basic desktop then START/TURN OFF Computer and choose RESTART.
11. When the computer restarts in normal mode the corrupted driver will not now force it into Sleep Mode - but because the custom display adapter driver is no longer present, Windows will use its basic driver to allow your desktop to open.
12. Once your computer is up and running Windows does a hardware scan and it will Identify your display adapter as NEW HARDWARE.
13. Windows stores a copy of all the drivers it needs to run the computer's installed hardware in its System 32 folder so it goes there, finds the appropriate display driver and installs it.

...JOB DONE...Now can I tell you this will definitely solve your sleep mode problem? No of course not - but it worked for me on my office HP desktop and when another machine in the office displayed the same symptoms it worked again. By the way, deleting the drive is not a risky thing to do because (a) Windows always saves a copy of the drivers on a computer in System 32 and (b) your computer isn't working anyway!

Computer asleep

If you go to control panel > display settings > Screen Saver > Power (win XP) or Control Panel > Power Settings (Vista).

This will allow you to turn off the sleep or change the amount of time until the computer goes to sleep or turns the monitor off.

It goes to sleep and won't wakeup

I believe this model only comes with Vista. Go to Control Panel, and on the left hand side click Classic View then click the icon for Power Options.

There will be a few options under Preferred Plans and one is selected (Filled in dot)

Under the Power Plan that is selected, click Change Plan Settings and on the next screen, click Change Advanced Power Settings.

You will have a new window that opens up with a bunch of categories with little boxes with + signs. Click the + Sign box beside sleep to open op the menu. In the options under sleep, change HYBRID sleep and HIBERNATE to NEVER. Especially the Hybrid sleep as this was a problem I found with Vista. It sounds like the computer is going into the Hybrid/Hibernation and not comping out from it unless you power off the computer and turn it back on

Also, click the + sign beside Hard Disk and make sure the option to "Turn off Hard Disks After" is also set to NEVER
