Software installation problems

while attempting to install the software, the 1st thing I see is an error that my "screen resolution is not sufficient to execute digital camera solution disc" I can't get past this in any way, to load the software. the computer runs windows 2000 and should be robust enough to run the software, it ran the predecessor software (on older Canon digital model) without problems. HELP
says it cant download my disc for powershots200 because doesnt use mos-dos ? It used to work before .
