The HDMI simply connects two devices. In your question, it's obvious one device is the tv. I suspect the other is some A/V equipment. To 'connect' the devices, each device will need to have an HDMI port. Older devices won't have one, but perhaps will have RCA. If one doesn't have an HDMI port, you won't be able to connect with an HDMI cable. You'll need to use which ever cable, each device has a port compatible with.

Amplifier keeps going on to standby

Your amplifier more than likely has DC Offset, a damaged amplifier. If you are interested in having your Teac repaired, please refer to my website, audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me there. Thank you.

I have a Teac A-6300 that won't go fast forward or reverse but the capstan motor is running

The Capstan motor is just for the play speed regulation so it has nothing to do with the reel motors. You can have an open safety microswitch or maybe a bad relay. It is really hard to say without looking at the unit but I am sure it is repairable. Is the right dummy plug put in the back? This can stop all transport functions if it is out.

HAVE CABLE BOX HOOKED UP TO TV BUT ONLY HAVE IMPUT 1-5 NO HDMI IMPUT WHY

You might have to manually turn the input on in the user menu. If you find that there is no option for this, then you will need to replace your main board.

Tunning in all digital stations

Don't know if this was the problem, but I was trying to go through the tuner for the saterllite stations. I tried going through the VCR/DVD unit and now all the channels are tuned. Only problem now is how do I tape a channel through the VCR? I can't seem to tune in the VCR.

We cannot get our hdb841 to tune into our awa hd

Hi! I believe you have some concern on how to get good picture on your hd tv. I will be more than glad to assist u.. on your teac hdb841- there is a port connection - ant in, you have to connect the ant cable from your off the air tv antena to the ANT IN of the Teac HDB841. then on the back of your Teac HDB841, you have several output connection there like component, coax, s-video, rca and hdmi. since u have the hdtv u need to use the hdmi or the component cable whiich is the red blue and green then access the menu of the teac hdb841 and do a scan for the local channels.. ur tv should tune in to hdmi if u use hdmi cable or component if u use the red blue and green.. i hope this will fix the problem..

Born to Race,

I have just bought a TEAC HBD841 which was on discounted sale at a local Electrical Store
Besides not being able to figure out how to connect the device to my elderly TV because the inadequate instruction booklet that is written in a language an Electrical Engineer would have difficulty understanding - does not explain which plugs go where, (try plugging a three plug lead into a 2 plug TV) but since then I have found out that the HDB841 has been withdrawn from sale and is no longer available.
No wonder it was cheap!
I suggest you get rid of it - quick
