Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Yamaha Rx1700 Amp, Samsung 42 inch plasma and a Hitacchi DV-DS163A HDD/DVD Recorder. Its all set up for the home movie thing and running foxtel. I have just moved and have set up the DVD incorrectly as I can hear a DVD but can;t see it. I'm told its something re the hdmi not set up correctly as I can't change the resolution on the DVD player as a result. Can you assist?

To change the resolution on the DVD player

you need to use one RCA cord to be connected to the vacant video input

of your TV from the DVD video out.

you need to set the TV to TV/video till you get the image from the

DVD player.

you will know you have a correct setting on the HDMI when you change the TV/video selector and select HDMI as the source.

if you cant still use HDMI then try using the yellow cable ( for video) connected from the DVD unit. ( RCA connection first then HDMI later)

if you are having video and no sound , you can directly connect the audio input of the Yamaha RX1700 amp to the audio out of your Hitachi DVD Recorder, only the volume is on the DVD.

there is also a volume on the Yamaha Unit but that is dependent on the DVD unit assigned volume. ( otherwise set the DVD volume near to full ) and control the volume using the Yamaha unit or remote.( if there is available)

Upgraded older HD TV to a Sharp 70" smart TV & Home Theater Receiver (Yamaha RX-V575. Have AT&T U-verse HD Cable box. What is the connection sequence using HDMI cables. Searched Yamaha and AT&T sites and...

I dont know about your particular hd hookup , but I take the hdmi cable out of my dish reciever/dvr [digital video recorder] and run it straight to the hdmi input #2 in the back of my apex 40 in lcd-hd-tv

I think take the hdmi output from the at&t u-verse cable box and plug it into the hdmi input of your 70 in sharp smart tv

that will get the input signal from your cable box ,both video & audio, into your tv set.
on the back of your tv set
there should be audio outputs for home theater audio systems that would plug into the audio inputs of the home theater system.

prehaps i am wrong because you say that your yamaha is a home theater* reciever.* is the yahama more than a home theater audio system? What does it recieve?

Idea-- the salesman that you bought it from should be willing to help tell you how to hook it up.

also consider that there are many different ways to hook up vcr's and then dv recorders and dvd recorders and external 2 tera bite hard drives into my tv & dvr . I got that all hooked in & a rats nest of wires. so i can record in hd or sd,on vhs or dvd or dvr
point is that you cant hurt anything by plugging the wrong plug into the wrong jack, as long as the same type of plug goes into the same type of jack.
If its right,it works, if its wrong, it wont work until you plug it into the proper jack.

im sorry ,im 65 am not into knowing all the latest and greatest cutting edge tech ,but i am begining to catch up on my hobby, movie recording tech.

Dvd+r disks are the least compatible to most devices.

Try using Dvd-r instead.

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies. If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min. This should help even out the pixels on the display.
