I accidentally inserted a wifi dongle instead of a flash drive into the sub port of my wireless Bluetooth boombox, the Sony ZS-RS70BTB, will this break it? The dongle was reading NOT SUPPORTED.

No, because the voltage of all USBs are 5 volts. It says unsupported because your Boombox doesn't recognise a wifi dongle. I guess it is looking for music files. The wifi dongle will be fine as it won't recognise a Boombox as it is looking for a computer or television.

USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED: One of the USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognised it.

The problem you have stated can be due to several causes. Please eject your USB drive from your computer and insert it again. If windows does not detect it, then restart your computer and try again. If the problem is still there, please check the Device Manager if the USB port is properly working and if it is possible to use the troubleshoot. The best way to check whether your USB device is properly working or not, insert it to another computer other than your's. If the problem persists, check your USB device's warranty period and simply go for the replacement and contact your retailer or service provider.

You can go to Device Manger by following the steps below:

My Computer Icon>Right Click on the Icon>Properties>Device Manager

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hope this helps,

Hi! I have a Verbatim 8GB Store-n-Go micro USB stick. I wanted to format the stick to FAT32. The thing was when I started the format it said that the format failed to complete, and when I tried again it...

Throw it away (after taking a hammer to it, so that any "data" on it will definitely _NOT_ be able to be recovered). Then, for less than $20, buy a replacement.

Or, check the manufacturer's web-site. If it is still under warranty, maybe they will replace it, at minimal cost to you.

Removeable Disk Not Recognised. I have my USB labelled SONY USB 2.0 I GB. once I plug it on my computer never recognised. So am asking you to get better solutions, Regards, charles

Sometimes when a flash memory stick fails because it was not removed from the USB port properly. If the device is removed by just pulling it out of the USB port, it can cause the flash device to fail, you must click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select the device you wish to remove and only do so when instructed to do so.

When the flash memory device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformatting it. Insert the flash drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Healthy.

You need to format the external drive. Format the drive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchanged between MACs and PCs).
Insert the external hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Health

My 2 GB cruzer just stopped working

Hi there
there are many things that could go wrong it is either a usb driver error which would cause a driver conflict and the device not to be recongised or the drive is dead since flash memory has a limited read and write life .To solve this problem you need to try both or one (if one of the solutions work)

(To solve usb driver conflict)
try using it on another computer and if it recognises then follow the instructions on here http://www.aeonity.com/trialerror

(To recover files)
Try it on another computer
if it recognises on the other computer go to start>run and type cmd
then type chkdsk(space)(letter of drive with :)(space)/F
this should fix the errors on it
If it recognises on the otehr computer but files are missing you can recover your data by using recuva (www.recuva.com) just save it, install and open it (it has instructions

Trekstor Storage device

I have an answer on how to fix the Trekstor Datastation "Removable Disk" problem.

I also own a Trekstor Datastation 500GB and had the same problem even though it worked for several months then all of a sudden when I tried to hook it up to another computer, it stopped working. It would recognize the USB connection but you could not read the drive as it would say "Removable Disk".

In "Device Manager" it recognizes the drive as Sundata USB2SATA. But what it really should be is "WDC WD50 00AAVS-32ZTB0 USB Device" or something similar to that. For those that are wondering, yes, the hard drive is a Western Digital Hard Drive. Western Digital Caviar to be exact.

Solution: You need to open the cover to the hard drive and reconnect the hard drive to the connector on the board. It's that simple!

It is very loose and this model is not well designed so it can easily come off if you accidentally knock over your hard drive or move it to another location. The hard drive is held in place by screws on a holder where there is room for the screws to slide if the screws are not tight enough.

You'll need a T10 screwdriver bit to remove the cover and a Phillips screwdriver to adjust the hard drive.

NOTE: Doing this will probably voids your warranty but trust me, it works and it's really easy and quick to do. Took me 15 minutes.
