Water will not spin out but you can the moter running

  1. Unplug the Kenmore washer power cord from the wall outlet. Pull the washer 2 feet away from the rear wall. Locate the screws that fasten the control console to the top of the washer. Remove the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver and raise the control console to the rear of the washer. The console has two hinges on the back that it will rest on while in this position.

  2. Locate the wiring harness connector that connects to the door switch plug. The connector is white, and is toward the top rear of the washer. Grab the sides of the connector with your fingers and pull it away from the door switch plug.

  3. Unhook the washer cabinet from the rear panel. There are two clips on the top of the washer that secure the cabinet to the rear panel. Place a flathead screwdriver into each clip, and pry the clip off the washer cabinet. Grab the sides of the washer cabinet and pull the cabinet away from the washer.

  4. Find the water pump below the washer tub. The pump attaches to the top of the motor and has two hoses attached to it as well. Place a small container under the hose connections to the water pump. Grab the ears on the compression clamp securing the upper hose to the pump with a pair of Channellock pliers. Squeeze the ears together with the pliers and slide the clamp down the hose. Pull the hose off the pump and set the end in the container.

  5. Grab the ears on the compression clamp holding the lower hose to the water pump with the Channellock pliers. Squeeze the ears together and slide the clamp down the hose. Pull the hose away from the water pump. Locate the two large black clips that secure the pump to the motor. Pry the clips off with a flathead screwdriver. Pull the pump away from the motor.

  6. Position the new pump over the motor and secure the pump with the two retaining clips. Connect the upper hose to the upper port on the water pump. This is the hose that connects to the tub. Use the Channellock pliers to compress the ears on the clamp and slide the clamp over the end of the hose and port on the pump.

  7. Slide the lower hose over the lower port on the water pump. Slide the compression clamp over the end of the hose and water pump port to secure the hose. Grab the sides of the washer cabinet and position the cabinet over the washer base. Secure the cabinet to the rear panel with the retaining clips. The clips will snap back into their respective holes in the top of the washer cabinet.

  8. Reconnect the wiring harness to the door switch plug. Slide the harness over the plug until it snaps into position. Lower the control console back over the washer top and secure with the retaining screws. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet and push the washer back to its working position.

The washer filled up with water but wont turn on

This is a clear evidence of a broken lid switch. Power to the drive motor is routed through the lid switch. The machine, therefore, will not turn on when the lid switch is not working. Manually activate the lid switch and if still doesn't work, bypass the lid switch. Disconnect power then jump a wire between the outer terminals of the disconnected connector from the cabinet top then reconnect power. Replace the lid switch to address the problem if the machine works with the lid switch bypassed.

Release the console from the top of the cabinet depending on the model of your machine then pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.

Our Kenmore washer (23812) stops working at the spin cycle, and the water will not drain out of the machine. Help!

This is a clear evidence of a broken lid switch. Power to the drive motor is routed through the lid switch during the drain/spin cycle. The machine, therefore, cannot drain and spin when the lid switch is not working. The drain pump doesn't work because it is directly coupled to the rear spline of the motor. Replace the lid switch to address the problem.

Release the console from the top of the cabinet depending on the model of your machine then pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.

Key gets stuck in ignition after shuting the vehicle

If your car is automatic the key won't come out until its in park. Putting it in park trigers a master-switch which isolates the positive of the battery. So when you take off the cable will do the same thing. The problem is most likely comming from there. Simple thing's first. Try moving it in and out of park while each time try to remove the key. If the key comes out then the problem is with the switch in the trans. If it won't come out then check the fuse. Then relay switch. I cannot tell you just which is the problem without trying so can only advise you. Cheer's

If the motor makes no noise in the spin cycle only, it sounds like you need a lid switch.
Unplug the machine. Remove the end caps on both sides of the console by putting a flat screwdriver in the top of the end caps from the back and gently prying up. Remove the two Phillips screws holding the corners of the console down. Lift the console and gently fold back. Unplug the lid switch. That's the 3-wire quick disconnect below the timer. (If you have a high price model, you'll have three hoses under a plastic cover on the left. disconnect those hoses before going further.)
Using a flat screwdriver remove the gold clips holding the cabinet to the back. Place the blade of the screwdriver in the indentation closest to you and tilt the handle of the screwdriver back.
Open the lid. Lift and tilt the entire cabinet toward you. Look down through the hole to the front bottom edge of the cabinet. It is hooked under the front edge of the washer frame. Remove the cabinet and place it in a position you can work under it.
The lid switch is held in lpace with two Phillips screws on the right edge of the hole. There is also a 5/16 in ***** holding the ground wire to the cabinet. Install the new switch using all the clips and screws that were holding the old switch in place.
Pick up the cabinet, hook it under the front of the frame, and tilt it back into place. Push the sides of the cabinet in as you are tilting it back to make sure the hooks in the frame (back, sides) line up with the cabinet. You can know it's in place when the edges of the cabinet line up evenly with the edges of the back.
Re-install the gold clips. Hook them into the back panel, put them into the slots in the cabinet, and push down until they snap into place. Re-connect the lid switch. Lower the console. Replace the screws. Replace the end caps - bottom first, then snap them in at the top.
Happy washing!
