You have import the music trough itunes and do it that way because itunes has the only software that will read it so just add the files trough itunes go to file and select add files or add folder to library you can do this for music and movies only if they are in mp4 formay hope this information was helpful:)

I am trying to sync music to my nano but it is not letting me

Hi, You have to download iTunes from: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ Then connect your iPod using the usb cord that was included. A tab should pop up in the "devices" section, this is your iPod. You will then have to go through some settings etc. After that go to the top left hand corner and open the song files that you want. A short cut to opening a song is ctl alt and o. After you have uploaded all the music you want go to "devices" and in the lower right hand corner it should say sync. It should then let you disconnect your iPod. If you want to upload more music just connect, open files and sync again.

Good luck to you...

I have 167 songs downloaded, but i have no idea to get them on my ipod shuffle. my ipod is plugged in and itunes and frostwire are downloaded along with my songs, how do i get them on my ipod?

Downloading songs onto an iPod, a process called syncing, is the main way to transfer music from your iTunes library to your iPod (it's also how you add other content - video, podcasts, photos, etc. - to your iPod).
It's also a simple process that, after you've done once, you'll hardly need to think about again.
Open iTunes, Go into Preferences in iTunes edit and select the General tab, put a check mark in music. Plug in your iPod and it should sync.

Frostwire may interfere with the iTunes sync process.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

I have a 2GB Ipod and recently tried to connect it to the computer but it gives me a "device Not Recognized" message. There is apparently no driver assigned to my device so I would like to know which usb...

I understood that this is an Apple Ipod..and you are trying to connect it to a windows bassed computer ..so ..there is no driver for apple product in windows...the connection and sync is made by Itunes...Download and installl Itunes for windows..and after that when you wil connect the Ipod..this will be visible in the Itunes and will let you add music in the Itunes Library ..and after that ..click on the ipod..(by name or device ...will be in list ) ..and on its category ..choose audio ..and sync...in this moment it will sync the music from the Itunes library into the Ipod..and every time you will want to add new music..just add them into the library and after that when you press sync ..it will sync the music that is added...but remember ..there is the possibility that if you delete some tune from library ..when you sync and if it is not there anymore.it may delete it from the Ipod..or may restore it in the library ...It is a little more strange than the usually mp3 players ..but this is the only way to work with Apple in wondows..

Using ipod touch 3.1 that won't sync to Acer laptop. Downloaded videos from itunes last night and are in itunes library. When I try to drag and drop the files downloaded from itunes, i get the circle with...

It sounds like you might have your iPod in Automatic sync mode. When in that mode you can't drag and drop specific videos to the iPod in the manner that you are describing. You've got a couple choices.
  • You can place your iPod in Manual sync mode. This seems to be what you're implying you would like. To Do this:
  1. Open iTunes and connect your device
  2. Click on your device name on the left pane under devices.
  3. On the summary tab check Manually manage music and videos
  4. Drag your video from your library onto your device.
  5. Your'e done, it will begin to sync automatically.

2) You can make use of the automated syncing features.
  1. Open iTunes and connect your device.
  2. Select the device from the left pane by clicking on the device name.
  3. Ensure that Manually manage music and videos is unchecked.
  4. Click on the Movies tab and check Sync movies
  5. Browse the list of movies and place check marks next to the movies that you would like to be synced.
  6. Click the sync button in the bottom right corner of iTunes.

Limewire wont transfer to itunes

continue downloading your mp3 / mp4 files with limewire (frostwire)..its okay...but limewire will never (and neither will any other non apple software) comply with itunes....so lets import the files (top left hand corner) using itunes (import from the folder you have download to) if its in xyz music that is where we will import from...once you have all the music onto itunes click & hold music library of itunes...(top left is itunes /bottom is your ipod if connected)...drag down to music of ipod let it go...once you do this the conversion takes place depending on how many songs u put in 1 - 3mins tops.............have fun dont forget to share mp3 files on limewire/frostwire

You can't use Windows Media to sync and Apple electronic, you must download Apple's software iTunes and transfer your music files onto that program and start syncing.

Trying to add songs from my computer to my ipod using windows media player trying to sync it for music on windows vista well under sync tab it does not reconize the device keeps saying connect a device

iPods connect to your computer via iTunes.
You can download iTunes here free: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
All the music files currently in your Windows Media Player can all be transferred into iTunes, so no worries about losing your music.

Hope that helps.

Apple iPod Video 30 GB

Hi,
iPods always say 'do not disconnect' when you connect it to the computer. That is what they are supposed to do. iTunes should open a short time after that. If i Tunes doesn 't open, then click on it to open it. You should see your iPod on the left side.

I suspect that you are not using iTunes to put music into your iPod. You cannot 'drag' music into your iPod. ITunes has to put it there.

You should have all of your music in your iTunes library that you want to put into your iPod. You have to use iTunes to put music into your iPod. Actually, this is the easiest way.

Once your music is in iTunes, plug your iPod into the computer. When your iPod appears in iTunes on the left side, click on the music tab and tell iTunes what music and play lists you want to put into your iPod.

Then click sync at the bottom. The iPod will go into sync mode until all of your music is loaded. Then it will say sync completed. You can then click the arrow next to your iPod to release it from iTunes.

When you want to release it from your computer, click on the little green icon at the bottom right of your computer screen. If you don't see it, click the white arrow. Click on the green plug icon and wait until you see safely isconnect mass storage device from the computer. Click on that and wait until you see, 'It is now safe to disconnect your mass storage device from the computer". Disconnect your iPod now.

Hope that helps.

Hi Try this to fix the problem: (its from the Itunes help menu)

To add songs to iPod manually: step_1.gif Connect your iPod to your computer.
step_2.gif When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes window (under Devices), select it.
step_3.gif If the Summary pane is not showing, click the Summary tab.
step_4.gif Select "Manually manage music." (If you have an iPod that displays video, the checkbox says "Manually manage music and video.")
step_5.gif Click Music (below Library, on the left side of the iTunes window) and then drag songs and playlists to your iPod.
