Question about Canon EOS-5D Digital Camera

1 Answer

I've been having trouble with my 5D taking extremely dark pictures with the flash on. This doesn't happen all the time, but enough to make me nervous when shooting a wedding, or special event. It seems like the 5D and flash aren't always talking to each other. Sherry

Try to adjust the ISO, and making the flash in off mode.

If you haven't try adjusting the picture mode into indoor mode.

First, average life on these sets is about 3 to 4 years at best and only boards are sold so even if you can pin point the board (no individual parts are sold) it is likely if will not get fixed and doing so is a bad investment as all the boards are now old.

Holly, I believe you are referring to the pre flash for the ETTL function. both flashes happen so so fast that it looks like one flash. If your pictures seem dark make sure your flash is set to ETTL (press the MODE button unlit ETTL is displayed) this way the flash output is automatic. If it is still too dark you can change the flash output by adjusting the FEL (flash exposure composition) by pressing the button in the center of the dial until +/- is displayed the turn the wheel to select a + exposure (you can adjust this in 1/3 stop increments) then press the center button again. This can be found on pg 14 of the manual
Hope this helps.

This is not an answer. The S3 normally does not produce dark pictures, and I have seen this issue before. It has to do with a setting somewhere on that camera that needs to be adjusted. I wish I knew what that setting was/is as my wife's camera has recently started doing this ...

Make sure you have your flash & timing set where it is supposed to be, usually between 120 & 180. This is the shutter timing and flash duration. It is the syncronizing speed setting. If possible, turn off the automatic review, this slows things up. Also, if possible, use a power cord for the flash instead of batteries. Not all have this feature but, the flash is ready for the next shot in about 1 second.

Having trouble with my camer shooting slow between pictures

You might have a USB virus or spyware infection in the memory card. I suggest you have Kodak develop the pictures then wipe the memory card clean. And the pictures might be dark because of the camera settings and or the development quality. Try resetting the camera. Hope this works.

The 430ex flash is E-TTL, that means it adapts is power to the scene. If you shoot a scene at 10 meters, the flash will choose to flash at the max power, and will take time to recharg. Try to get closer to your subject, and remember that the flash can only lighting your subject, not the whole scene.

Sony DSC W50 Camera - Trouble with Flash

Hi, I guess you are using the automatic mode ( not the "P" mode).
You should enable flash only when there is insuffient light. If you use flash in broad day light, your pic will be whited out. If you dont use flash in dark or low light, your pic will be dark or very dark.
So, when it comes of dark, try enabling the flash. If its still dark, increase the flash compensation (the eV value). If its still dark, increase the ISO number.
Hope these help.
cheers,

Shooting in the dark here, but the basic things you should try before all else is another mem card, and new compatible batteries. sounds more like a card problem though. hope it works out
