Question about Venta Airwasher VS 207 3.7 Gallon Humidifier

2 Answers

I left my Venta VS207 with water in the resevoir for a couple of months and now the 2 bottom white circles had water in them. The dark circle at the bottom of the white circle (the part that is delicate and needs to be cleaned with the special brush) is moldy and the water is kind of green (from mold?). I need to use it tonight because my baby sick. Help?

I have a Venta VS207 and I left the blue reservoir filled with water for a few months. Some water must have leaked out into the 2 white circular areas in the base. Now, there is mold (or something else that is white) around the brown oscillator. I've tried to clean it out with the brush but it's still slightly moldy. What else can I do to clean it? Since there was water sitting for awhile, will the humidfier still work?

Hi.

At Venta they say that this air humidifier cannot develop any mold, therefore they did not provide any mold cleaning procedure or product.

If the mold was only in the reservoir, then you could just clean the reservoir with anti bacterial product.

The problem is that from your description the mold looks like being nested inside the unit.

I leave in England, and I have an asthma suffering toddler, therefore I use dehumidifiers (the opposite function of your Venta) and air purifier.

This machines that are good for your health in normal condition can become very dangerous when they get mold growing inside the machine.

If you turn on the humidifier, you will distribute spores all over the house. This will be bad for yours and your baby's health, and may also damage your house.

I think the best solution is not turning on the Venta at all tonight, better not to use the dehumidifier, rather than risking to make baby health condition worse.

If you are in emergency, you can just temporarily you can boil hot water into a small saucepan and then leave the hot saucepan in a safe corner of the room.
It will release enough vapor to humidify the room for the night.
If there are no specific allergy issues you can also add few eucalyptus leaves to the water.
In a dry and cold environment you can put tin cans with water on radiators, ensure that they are safely secured.
This does not want to be medical advice. I am a technician, not a doctor, therefore being health issues involved I need to remind you to talk to your doctor before taking any steps.

About repairing, you can call Venta at the number listed on the owner manual, and you will probably have the humidifier replaced unless it turns on that you did any improper use of the machine, causing the problem.

The only other alternative is opening the machine and treating all internal parts with anti mold product, or buying a new one locally.

Resuming:

Do not use the humidifier. Find a temporary solution for tonight and get a different humidifier as soon as possible.

Call Venta at the number on manual (1-800-528-2817 in USA) to arrange replacement or repair of this unit.

Regards.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your humidifier.

I really don't have good news. I'm sure this is not what you want to hear. Your appliance may be damaged at this point. But you can try to clean it anyway. You can clean it as the user manual indicates. If you don't have it handy, you can download it from this link:

http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/123738.pdf

You can use peroxide hydrogen (the regular one 3%) to clean it and a soft sponge, not the green ones that scratches. I hope you have the brush to clean it. Using warm water also helps. Do not try to use any cleaner. You may need to clean it several times before it can be used. Also, the cartridge may need to be cleaned.

I can't guarantee that it is going to work but I hope you good luck.

How do you fill the venta humidifier I don't have

http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/123738.pdf

Fill Water Tank.

Turn off humidifier and unplug the power cord from A/C outlet. Remove tank from

base. Turn upside down and unscrew filling cap. Fill tank with clean, cool, distilled,

filtered, or tap water. Do not attempt to fill unit through Vapor Nozzle. Water temperature

should NEVER be too hot or too cold. Extreme temperatures can damage the

unit. Tighten filling cap firmly. Return tank to base and let it sit for a few minutes. For

first time use or when replacing the demineralization cartridge filter, please soak the

filter in warm water for several minutes.

Venta-sonic VS 207 humidifier. Turns on but the display just flashes lights. I had it stored all summer (followed the manual instructions) and it's the first time I'm turning it on.

I had the same problem. During the cleaning process, the white float was installed upside down and humidifier water level sensor was unable to read the float. I removed the phillips screw and inverted the float with the dark ring toward the bottm. Quick fix.

Cleaned my Venta VS207 now it won't work. Only flashes.

My unit was doing the same thing as others here and I was able to fix the issue. I believe the issue is that the sensor for the water level, which is located in a tube connecting the two water reservoirs in the main unit, has something blocking the sensor. Most likely this is bacteria growth or other debris which has built up over time. I used Oxy Clean which has some bubbling action and very hot water to clean both sides for about 30 minutes. When I flushed out the reservoir, it started working again.
If take the base off the unit by removing the 4 screws, you will see the "tube" I'm talking about. Since this has what appears to be sensors in it, I didn't want to remove the tube from the bottom to clean it and instead to the approach above. Hope this helps someone.

Caring For Your Venta-Sonic Humidifier
IMPORTANT!
Always unplug the unit before cleaning!
When to Clean Your Humidifier
Clean your humidifier weekly or more often during heavy use, depending on your
individual water quality. Clean your humidifier before storing and after long periods
of storage.
When cleaning the inside of your unit, keep water away from the air outlet. Exterior
may be wiped with a damp cloth when unit is off and unplugged.
Cleaning the Oscillator and Water Sensor
Turn off the unit and unplug power cord. Remove tank from base and empty
reservoir in base. Use cleaning brush provided in base to clean off mineral deposits
and sediment from oscillator and water sensor. Do not scrape or clean with tools
that have metal parts. Be careful to not damage the surface of the oscillator.
ATTENTION: Damage to the oscillator may cause the unit to not work properly.
The oscillator (ultrasonic transducer) is highly sensitive. Keep this important part
clean and treat gently. Do not touch the oscillator while the unit is operating.
Do not use soap, cleaning agents, detergents, or other chemicals for cleaning the
tank and humidifier.
After cleaning fill water tank (see instructions above) and return tank to base.
Storing the Venta-Sonic
Switch off and unplug power cord from A/C outlet. Empty remaining water from base
and tank. Clean tank and unit (see for instructions above). Make sure all parts are
thoroughly dry—allow at least 24 hours to dry. Leave the filling cap of the tank
loosened. This will keep the cap and gasket from sticking together. Pack Venta-Sonic
in original packaging and store in a cool and dry place.

Good Luck.

Drum does not turn

The rubber coupling is slipping. You may have a problem with the gear case; you can get a new one by calling Venta at (888) 333 8218. But it's possible that the rubber coupling is simply not seated properly. Snap the gear box out and make sure the socket is clean. When you put it back make sure that the coupling post is fully inserted in the drive socket. Hope this works for you ... Venta will supply new parts promptly if you decide you need them.
