Want to up grade my processor in dell dimension 5150,but don't know if it is capable of running a higher version processor.......

With the way the case is made you have to go with a dell motherboard for your power cable ...ect. to hook up right. Unless you want to buy new wire and run them yourself. Also you have to make sure you get a BTX board.

If you replace with the same motherboard that's in already, that would be easiest for you.

But if you use a different one, you'll have to re-activate Windows, and download and install new device drivers.

The main thing to look for is a motherboard that is the same socket as yours. That way your current processor will fit into the new motherboard. To check this for sure, you'll have to remove your processor and look to see what it says, you can see this under the processor. It looks like yours is either a socket 775 or 939.

Hi is the Power supply on a 2006 Dimension 5150

What makes you think you have a dead power supply? I would look at the connectors and see if there are 20 or 24 going into the Motherboard main connector. Then look for a 4 pin connector plugging in near the CPU. If it looks like the mounting holes line up, you have a winner. Most are interchangeable anyhow. Try to get some SATA connections on your new one.

Dell Dimension 5150 will not start!

This is related to Hardware.

There might be a lose Ram of data cable connection on Motherboard.

This type of issue is also seen when the there is dust accumulation on Process Fan and CPU fan resulting in over heating.

This might also be due to malfunction of a motherboard.

The third reason could be that SMPS his not working.

If you experience the dreaded blinking orange power light, make sure to check your motherboard for blown capacitors as well as corrosion on the motherboard. Looks like the photo below.... if you see this then a replacement motherboard is needed.
