PXE bootup means the computer does not boot up from an operating system installed on a hard disk drive. PXE bootup uses a server on a network to boot up the computer.

It will not start without being connected the network that it was programmed to run on

From working for Acer Repair centre this message means your hard drive or SSD drive depending on model has a fault with it and is broken the only way around this is to buy a new one or if its in warranty you will need to send it in for repair usually free if its covered. Kronoguy.

PXE-E61 media test failure on Acer Aspire 5050 laptop

Yes, your analysis of the problem is correct. The problem could be with the hardware & while you are trying to reinstall the Windows OS, the software checks on all hardwares before installing. The best solution would be to take your system to a nearest service provider & get the problem rectified. Once the problem is rectified by them, try to reinstall the OS along with them, so that if there is any other problem apart from the above they will be able to help you.

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

check your harddrive, is it detected in bios ?
if no, it could be motherboard or hdd, but most of the time is hdd problem, so just replace it.
if yes, your operating system is corrupt, so you can reload your operating system.

Booting problems with acer laptop - no operating system found??

well ur msg clearly states operating system not found.
for this u hav to install ur OS again.
As ur sister has a branded machine u must hav got a Operating System CD-ROM with it for backup.(in ur case it must be vista)

if u hav the cdrom then turn ur system on just put the cdrom into the drive and let it do what follows.
It may ask u abt where to install ur OS(means which partition)
just select the desired partition and many other simple questions which u can easily answer incase u hav any problem I am always there.

PXE-E61:Media Test Failure

you got that error message because your harddrive isnot detected so it try to boot from network and you don't have OS in the network.

Most of the time is your hdd is dead. In some cases the motherboard is dead.

You can replace your hdd.
for OS (vista vs XP), if you have enough rams and high cpu, you should install vista, but for me, I prefer XP.
for the price, you should call microsoft seller.
