Also, you can just reset the ipod by pressing down the menu and center buttons. this will reset the ipod if it gets frozen. (it doesn't delete your music or anything)

While the iPod is plugged in, toggle the hold switch on and off (slide it to hold, then slide it back again), then press and hold the "menu" button and the center button until you see the apple logo on the screen, if this doesn't fix it... try a different USB port (use one on the computer itself, not your keyboard or hub), if this doesn't work... restart your computer and make sure you have the latest updates for your computer, if this doesn't work... call apple at this link:
