SOURCE: Printer Head needs removal to clean dried ink

Not a cleanable type head, filiment gets burnt, when ink is not around it when printing is done. Ie dodgy ink blocks lines or has air in it and has permanently stuffed the print head, fix on brothers is replace head, cost excessive.,..time for the bin and the newfound wisdom that inks aint just inks.

Ink empy or no inks is read in ink well compartment via a black flag in ink cartridge that must be up and floating as not to obstuct photocell in well area.. check the rectangler bump in rear middle of cartridge. All cartridges must have flags up ie not empty, seeing ink does not indicate a cartridge with ink, a little is always left to prevent air entering system, hence machine calling out no innk cartridge to prevent damage...

Press the button on the right hand side of the printer. Lift the lid, pull up the little gray handle. Rock the print head container a bit and you'll see a little metal bar. Grab that and pull straight up.

SOURCE: I need a new print head

Check if the service station proper covers the black nozzles when the printhead is parked. Sometimes the mechanics change its position and the printhead dries out.
Try to unclog the nozzles with very hot water. Sometimes it helps. The new printhead is very expensive and you may want to buy a new printer instead.
Remove the printhed, put it in a bowl with the nozzles down and fill with boiled water until the nozzles are covered. Wait 15 min and dry the electric contacts with a dry napkin. Good luck!

Remove print head canon mp480

THe print heads are an integral part of each cartridge. When you remove the cartridges you actually remove the print heads. You will need to open the top front panel to access the print carriage which moves left and right over the paper under it. Using cotton swabs you can apply rubbing alcohol to the places the cartridges rest upon and absorb all the dried out ink. Be sure you toss the old cartridges out before you reassemble. If you need to store any ink type printers REMOVE ALL CARTRIDGES and clean off the receivers on the print carriage!

My printer will not print black ! it prints every other colour, but not black. I changed the ink cartridge and i cleaned the heads. What else can i do? It has been a loyal printer until today. please

Hi you mentioned that the Ink is new and that you have cleaned the ink heads, have you checked if the silicon Film for the ink cartridge contact was removed?

if that film is not removed cleaning the printer head will still not detect the ink cartridge for the Black on your printer.

Turn your printer OFF and remove all your print cartridges then install all of them again one at a time then turn the printer back ON, see if all the ink cartridges are now detected and if the Black will now print.

Also if you can

Replaced ink cartridges, printer goes through all the motions, but paper comes out blank. I have done all the maintenance steps. What gives?

Cannon ink cartridges go into a print head. This is normally a removable box the ink cartridge sits in.

First remove the head and the cartridges from it. Now try this to clean the old ink off the print head, rub/soak the print head in alcohol. Make sure the print head is complete dry and place the ink back in it and return to the printer. Try to print a page, if you have the same results you need to replace the print head.

Magenta ink won't print though cyan and yellow print okay after refilling for the first time. Also, everytime I remove cartridge (color) the print head is full of ink blot. (is this normal?) I have tried...

Sorry for the delay in my answer. No you do not need to remove the ink from the cartridge itself. Soak remove the cartridge and soak it as is. You will get a huge colour change in the water but it will not use any more than 0.1ml of ink

How do i clean the heads on my lexmark x4580 printer the black is not printing but the colour is ok and the cartridge is full of ink cheers

  • Hello,

  • Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

  • (1) Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over
  • (2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
  • (3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water or a mix of hot water and isopropyl alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head and the electronic contacts on each ink cartridge.
  • (4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
  • (5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
  • (6) Try to print something now

  • If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
  • (1) One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
  • (2) If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.

  • Thanks

Have not used my Epson R1800 for almost 6 months. When I turn on the power the printer head, with the cartridges, stayed at the very right end, not moving. The paper and ink lights flash and the head just...

Your User's Guide is available here:

http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/r1800_/r1800_ug.pdf

After leaving the printer inactive for a extended period you should expect the ink cartridges to be dried up and the print head 'gummed' in place.

You will need to refer to page 82 of the pdf, Cleaning the Printer.

As part of cleaning remove the existing ink cartridges and while the cartridges are removed try and clean the print head of any ink residue. Note that if the red light is on or flashing above an ink cartridge the printer sees it as empty (dried up).

The print head will not move if ink cartridges need replacement; replace ink cartridges according to the red lights, likely all. Press the ink button to see if the printer will begin the charging cycle. If all is well the green power light will stay on and the red ink light will go out.

If you do not get this desired outcome try Cleaning the Print Head, page 73 of the User Guide. Hold down the ink button when the red light is off for 3 seconds. Run a nozzle check pattern; if nozzels are not printing a clean pattern, repeat this process up to 3 or 4 times.

After being abroad for 3 months i can home to find printer not printing correctly i replaced the 5 ink cartridges but only 2 working Black and cyan

The ink has dried in the print head. If the print head comes out, remove it and apply rubbing alcohol or water with a paper towel to the nozels to disolve the ink. Once the ink seems to be fluid, replace the print head and ink cartridges, do a head cleaning and try printing again.

If the print head cannot be removed, get a childs medicine syringe, draw in some rubbing alcohol. Remove the non printing carts and apply a couple of small drops of alcohol to each ink port on the print head. apply some more drops to the ink port of the carts and replace and try a head cleaning and print.

If this does not work, continue to ask for help. The aim is to save the print head, not buy a new printer.

Does not print

The CX series printers use a pigment based ink, and if it dries it frms a semi hard gooy substance on the printer ink input pins.

Sometimes after the insertion of new cartridges (Ensuring the yello tab is removed) and letting them sit overnight (to soften the ink blob) and running several cleaning cycles can unblock the ink "jam". Note: Epsons printer head need ink to cool them when printing (Sort of like oil in a car) so don;t try to print withot having ink flowing to the heads. It can also ruin the print head by overheating.

If all else fails there are several companies that sell inkjet cleaning solution. You may need a couple of cartridges to flush blocked jets but if will most likey work if the print head is still functional.

Otherwise, the technican is correct, you may need to purchase a new printer.

Note; For the future... Never let the ink run out of any cartridge without immediately replacing the cartridge. Never remove an empty cartridge without replacing it immediately.
