Question about RCA HD52W59 HDTV Projection Television

1 Answer

OK here I go...I submitted a problem with my TV but gave the wrong model #. My model # is HD52W59. Is it similar to the HD52W20? Anyways, I opened the back of the TV and the arcing and sizzling appears to be coming from underneath the board near transistor that is near the left rear of the power board. It is attached to a large heat sink. Can this board be ordered and just replace the whole board? I see the flyback transformer but dont think this is the problem. By the way.. the original problem is that when you press the power button you hear crackling and sizzling from inside the TV.

Hello LD2448,
I gave this advice before:
It sounds like you have a convergence amplifier problem. There are many articles on the Internet on how to do this type of repair yourself, but what these articles fail to mention is that if done wrong the chances are your TV will be damaged even more. So I would suggest that if you do not know electronics, for you to take the TV to a repair shop or have a TV technician come to your house to check and recommend a repair strategy for your TV set.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

I have serial number hd52w59

the fl231 fuse problem will apply to any itc222 chasis set. The hd52w20 is an itc22 chasis.. although i have not seen it in that set if you do not have the convergence option in setup. that is my first choice in possible problems. a simple ohm chech of that fuse can determine if it open. Warning this television can generate potetial leathal voltages care should be taken when working with set with back off.

Check your screen. I have the same problem with mine. If the screen has a ripple in it, it could give the same effect.
