How do I change the fuel filter on my 3020 John Deere diesel tractor

Leaving the fuel valve on the tank in the on position will allow fuel to run through the line & keep the air purged during removal. On the other side between the pump & the filter, having the new filter topped off & speedily installed will lessen the chance of air entering the line. Once the filter is installed, open the bleed screw at the top of the filter. Just my redneck way.

2305 john deere want start replaced fuel pump still want start seems like no fire does diesle have fire

diesel work for compression ignition and have only glo plugs to help with starting in cold weather. You will need to bleed the air out of the pump and pressure lines to the injector. Crack the bleed screw on the pump until you get solid fuel then crack the injector line until it drips fuel. re tighten and it should go.

My 5.9 dodge cummins diesel won't start, I've replaced the fuel lift pump, and the fuel filter, turns over. But will not start?

Most likely you just have air in the lines.Crack them open one at a time and bleed them with the fuel pump off and on till you get fuel.If it fires dont hit the throttle let it sit and idle and close the line.Does it fire up with a small whif of starting fluid?

Ran out of diesel now vehicle won't start

This is not unusual on a diesel. What happens is there is air in the system. If this vehicle has an electric fuel pump loosen line where fuel enters injection pump then turn ignition key to the on position and watch for fuel to appear and then quickly tighten line before turning off key. Then try to start. If does not have electric fuel pump will need a second person. One will loosen line and watch while other cranks vehicle until you get fuel and tighten line before the other person releases ignition switch unless vehicle starts first. If that doesn't do the job do this where line hooks onto each injector. Probably will not have to do this to all injectors but could run rough until all the air gets out of everything. I have farmed with diesel tractor for 25 years and dad I drove the gm vehicles with the 5.7. You normally don't start a diesel without bleeding the air out of the lines although some will self bleed most won't. Hope this does the trick.

I ran my john deere 790 out of fuel.how do i restart

With diesel, sometimes you have to bleed air out before it will run again. Typically you disconnect the fuel line going to the injector pump, manually activate the fuel pump, or turn over until fuel comes out, then release one or more of the injectors, and turn engine over again. Normally that bleeds enough to start and then the rest of the air gets pushed through.

My john deere 990 wont start. it's not getting diesel to the engine

Check there is adequate fuel to supply engine. Check there is no damage to fuel lines and that the fuel filter is not plugged. Yours is a Yanmar diesel engine withe an autobleed feature which is supposed to bleed the air out of the system automatically. It may incorporate an electric fuel pump also, but some don't. You can prime the fuel system to the injection pump with the manual lift pump if it is equipped with it. After establishing fuel to the injection pump, loosen the nuts that hold the fuel lines onto the injectors approximately1 1/2 turns. Turn the engine over until you see fuel coming from the injector nuts. Tighten the nuts to 24 inch/lbs of torque, start the engine and run at 1/3 throttle untill it runs smooth.

Ran out of fuel just as tractor came to a stop in the yard. Have tried to bleed lines but pump lever doesn't seem to make any difference or have any resistance behind it. What do you think?

When a diesel runs out of fuel ... my friend ... it takes a lot of effort to get the air out of the lines. Keep doing what you are doing ... keep grinding on the battery ... don't kill it or the starter ... and, as my daddy told me, 'let this be a lesson to you ... don't let your diesel run out of fuel!'

I'm sorry you ran out of fuel ... it will rujn again.

Sounds like there is air in the(diesel?) fuel system.Remove the fuel filter and fill it up with fuel if possible. There might be a little lever on the fuel pump to prime the system and a bleed screw on the filter housing to get the air out. If it has a diesel engine, loosen about half of the injector lines and crank it over until you get fuel to come out. when the engine starts, tighten the fuel lines.
