Question about Carrier XHB123D X/Y Series Heat/Cool Air Conditioner
I have a Carrier gas heater. I replaced the gas valve(White Rodgers 5wire) because the valve would clatter and intermittently work. Initially the furnace worked fine, Now the fan comes on,ignitor works and the pilot will only ignite temporarly and the burners go not light. any thoughts before I have to call a serviceman? Thanks,Mike
I agree. Either the pilot flame is dirty and is not making good contact to heat up the bi metal strip on the pilot assembly, or the pilot assembly is defective. 90% of the time if you clean the pilot orfice and the pilot burner it will take care of the problem

Look at the pilot light it should burn down and up. on the down side it has to heat the plate on the pilot burner (it should have 3 wires coming out of it). If the flame does not touch the lower plate, remove the brass fitting from the pilot burner and clean the orifice inside.
