For the machine to shut down there must be a lack of airflow through the unit (Have you cleaned out the lint trap recently?).

Only other thing would be the timer has a bad contact and is breaking down due to current overload

The first one you can tackle yourself the other one needs a technician

You could have a high temp limit switch activating the shut down. You'll have to get a multimeter and monitor the circuit while the unit is running in order to see why it is shutting down

Hi,

It sounds like the motor is going bad. If it heats up too much the overload in the motor will trip. It will reset its self when cool enough. You should unplug the unit and make sure the drum turns freely. I don't think you have a problem with heat. There are two fuses on your unit that will blow if it gets too hot. If the drum is free, hook the belt back up and run it until it stops. UNPLUG THE UNIT and see if the motor is hot. If it is it will need to be replaced.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Maytag dryer stops after few minutes

ELECTRIC Dryer no heat or little heat, or shuts down to fast:

Check your venting and lint basket. Check blower for lint build up and blower wheel obstruction., test by trying to turn the wheel manually by hand (should be easy) May have to remove cabinet or front/back plate to get to it)

Next check the heating element itself with a meter for continuity OHMS CLOSED CIRCUIT. If not its defective.

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage. 220 because if u only get half or 110 volts you will be able to run the machine which uses only 110 to run motor but not the heater which uses a full 220,

Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.
A failed moisture sensor will affect the dryer run time in the automatic moisture sensing cycle but it will not affect the heating of the dryer or the timed cycle.

Why is my frigidaire dryer quitting after running a few minutes. It runs fine on the no heat so the motor is alright.

Not neccessarily the cool cycle uses less power and pressure from the motor, the winedings on motor may be bad or going out? does it shut down after 20-30 minutes of running? u may also want to check ur venting and ur thermostats the cycling and the thermal cut off, if ur having an over heating problem they can and will shut off the cycle as a safety precaution

Frigidaire Affinity AEQ6700FSO electric dryer does not heat, then shuts off within 10 minutes.

Hello Scott Joseph Brandt - Since you have already replaced the thermal limiter check your breaker or fuses. Some dryers are run by two separate fuses, one for power and one for heat-ours is. If it is not the power source more than likely the issue lies with your heating coil.

Whirlpool LER4634EQO Runs for about 2 minuts and shuts off.

It is possible your Cycling Themostat is not working properly. It determines at what temperature to turn heat on and off to maintain a consistent dryer temp. The High Limit Thermostat would turn off the heat but your dryer would still run. That leaves the Thermal Cut Off which is turning off your dryer. It might be faulty and turning off at too low a temp, or it might be doing it's job. In that case something else is wrong. If you can check the exhaust air temperature at the dryer, it should be under 175 degrees. If you are absolutely sure the vent is clear, then replace the Dryer Cycling Thermostat.
