Question about Computers & Internet

My daughter cannot access the internet on her Apple Notebook, even though she is getting a good in-home network signal. She can access the internet outside the house at the Library, Starbucks, etc., but when she tries to go online inside the house, she gets a blank screen. Setup.... Comcast Cable from wall>>>>Comcast RCA Modem>>>>Netgear Router Or Linksey Router (tried both routers)>>>>Asus Desktop>>> to Apple Notebook. Uses Safari Browser and Firefox-Google search engine. Thanks, bgrskn@gmail.com

I would like more than one opinion. I have already checked with Comcast and Linksys, no luck. I will accomdate the Apple Notebook and Router IP addresses.

If possible for you to double check the wireless security settings of your router because that is the common problem here when connecting to a secured wireless network, By the way if your using a WEP security for wireless try putting a dollar sign after putting the key if still dont work try also disabling first your wireless security so we can check if it will connect fine without it....

Can you get online with the Asus desktop that's connected to the router?

If you can get online using using the Asus desktop, then try connecting the Apple Notebook directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. If she gets online while wired connected to the router, then there's a problem with the wireless capability of the router.

If she can't get online in either way (wired or wireless), try to disable first the Airport of the Apple Notebook and reboot the computer.

After rebooting the computer, enable the Airport and try connecting to the router wirelessly. If it's connected, check the IP address of the Apple computer and see if it's getting a valid IP address:

The valid IP address starts with: 10.71.x.x or 192.168.x.x
Invalid IP address starts with: 169.254.x.x

Check also the IP address of the router. However, you need to contact the router manufacturer (Linksys) for assistance. Checking the settings could be a little bit confusing.

The router and the computer should be in the same IP range in order for them to communicate.

Have a great day!

Wifi wont connect and some other

well, the signal, may be good, but if theirs a huge amount of people on the same acess point, things get messy. if u have alot of people using the same network, the internet becomes laggy, and even if u have a good signal, the internet can be very laggy, and lose connection alot, it depends on the amount of people using the same network, so at home u have only u and ur family connected, at school more people might be connected to the network than at home.

Hi,
Are they the same models?
The phone's capability to sustain a stable network coverage may vary even in model types.
While at your home, remove the phone's battery and simcard and fit them again.
Note how the phone's network signal registers.
It may start very high and then drop drasticaly to very low or no signal at all or sustain a constant signal reception.
If the reception's good in other areas, then your home area's network coverage may not be that good.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

I have an ebook notebook 7 but it wont load the internet even though it is saying im connected with a strong signal. any advice?

just because you are connected to a wireless network does not necessarily mean that you can access the internet. Can you access the internet from another wireless device using the same wireless network. If you can then the problem lies with whatever browser you are using and maybe your firewall. Please reply with what windows version you are using and what browser and firewall is on your ebook

Not all WiFi networks are actually connected to the internet - you could try connecting to different networks, or get closer to the access point. Sometimes, with mobile devices like phones and iPods, it tells you you're connected to the network but the signal is too poor and you end up not being able to actually do anything on it.
