You have to udate all of ur zune software. I just did that a couple mins ago....but my songz are still muting like 20 secs in and then it freezes. can anybody help me?

Hi! DId you try a complete reset.. just take the battery out and leave it like that for about 1 min. Then put the battery back and see if it works. If it doesn't then try connecting it to an outlet and then try to switch it on. IF it works then its a battery problem.. If it still doesn't work then you can try updating the firmware to a later version and see if it works.. report your findings so that we can proceed further

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

SYMPTOMS
When you try to use Zune Software, you experience one or more of the following symptoms:
• The Zune device is not detected by the computer. 
• The Zune device is not detected by Zune Software. In this case, when you pause on the device icon in the lower-left corner, you receive the following error message:
No Zune device connected 
• If you restored the Zune device software, the following messages are displayed on the Zune device:
Connect Zune to your PC
On your PC, open the Zune software and restore the Zune device firmware 

THINGS TO TRY
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:1. Update the Zune software on the computer. To do this, click settings, click software, click GENERAL, and then click CHECK FOR UPDATES.

If the issue is still not resolved, go to the next step. 
2. Restart the Zune device. 

To do this, follow these steps: a. Set the Hold switch to the unlocked position. 
b. Press and hold the Back button as you press the top of the Zune pad. 
When the Zune device begins to restart, release the buttons. 

If the issue is still not resolved, go to the next step. 
3. Disconnect the Zune device from the computer, restart the computer, and then reconnect the Zune device. 

If the issue is still not resolved, go to the next step. 
4. Connect the Zune device to a different USB port on the computer. Use a USB port on the back of the computer. Do not use a USB hub. 

If the issue is still not resolved, go to the next step. 
5. When you connect the Zune Sync Cable to the connector port of the Zune device, make sure that both ends of the sync cable click into position. Additionally, make sure that the sync cable is not connected to the device at an angle. 
6. Connect only one Zune device at a time. If you already have a Zune device connected to the computer, any other Zune that you try to connect will not be detected by the Zune software. Disconnect any additional Zune devices, and then try to connect again.

If the issue is still not resolved, go to the next step. 
7. If a full-screen battery image appears when you connect the device to the computer, you must let the device charge for several minutes before the device will start and be detected by the computer.

Note If the device was installed incorrectly, Zune may be listed together with a yellow exclamation mark (!). Or, it may be listed under Other devices as USB Device.
Double-click Zune, and then click the Driver tab. The current version of the driver that is installed should be 2.3.1035.0.

If Windows Device Manager indicates a device problem, or if the version of the driver that is installed is not the current version, you must update the driver. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Right-click Zune or USB Device, and then click Properties. 
2. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver. 
3. Click Search automatically for updated driver software. 
4. Click Install if you are prompted to do this. 
5. After the driver installation is complete, click Close.

I would first allow the Zune to completely charge (the battery symbol should be full and green[i believe--it's been a while since I first got mine]).

I would then unplug the device and restart the computer. Once your computer has completely rebooted connect the device to the computer and see if it detects the device. It should work. Also you might try another USB port.

Try different computers, if it doesn't connect on any of them you have a broken logic board. The Zune logic board isnot too hard to replace. A good source for the part would be ebay. ButThere is a stepby step guide too that explainshow to replace the board : Zune repair. There are also third party Zune repair companies that do it for you.

I am not sure if this is gonna work but, since you've tried all other steps why dont we give this a try too...LOL :-)

To troubleshoot this issue, try one or more of the following methods in the order in which they are listed:
  1. Let your Zune device charge for 30 minutes, then disconnect and reconnect the cable to turn on the player. It can take up to 3 hours to fully charge.
  2. Connect the Zune device to a different USB port on the computer. Use a USB port on the back of the computer. Do not use a USB hub.
  3. Use another supported high power source, such as an Xbox 360 console, a Zune AC Adapter, a Zune Car Charger, or a Zune FM Transmitter/Charger.

    Note These devices are sold separately.
  4. If you are connecting your Zune device to a mobile computer, make sure that the mobile computer is plugged in and is not running on battery power. Many mobile computers are configured to conserve power when they are running on battery power to extend battery life. This behavior may affect Zune device charging.
  5. If the Zune device is charging slowly, be aware that, for optimal charging, the Zune device requires at least 500 milliamps (mA) of power. Frequently, USB ports that are located on the front of a computer and on some USB hubs are low-power, 100-mA ports. Typically, the high-power, 500-mA USB ports are on the back of the computer. Additionally, when you suspend the computer or put the computer to sleep, high-power USB ports may be switched to low-power, 100 mA mode.

Zune won't respond to any key presses.


I would first allow the Zune to completely charge (the battery symbol should be full and green[i believe--it's been a while since I first got mine]).

I would then unplug the device and restart the computer. Once your computer has completely rebooted connect the device to the computer and see if it detects the device. It should work. Also you might try another USB port.

Pc will not detect zune...


You may have to reset the zune device to factory default settings and reload...

Try this....
Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad.
Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.

Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.

I have a zune. I edited all my music on the computer, but it does not show any changes on the actual zune device. How do I get the zune device to show the changes?


All ediitng has to be done BEFORE synching with Windows Media Player. You must delete the song off the Zune, and then resynchronize the file with the correct information to the Zune.

PC will not detect my zune.


Hey!! I just fixed mine! I had recently installed drivers for a PS3 controller, and for some reason those were conflicting with the Zune.

To fix it, I went to add/remove programs, and then removed the libusb program, that fixed it instantly! Good luck!
