Question about GPS
Hi, the card with the chip, more commonly called flash memory card is probably faulty and it is causing the unit to turn off by itself.
If the unit is starting without a card, then you will need to test your Sat Nav using a different memory card.
If you have maps and data on this card you can recover them using a computer , then attempt transferring them onto the new card.
You use this using a card reader that can be connected to a computer. Some computer may have built in card reader.Click here for an example: Multiple USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader Writer for SD T-Flash.
If the computer is not reading then card, then the content may be lost. In that case you can recover and download again the maps contacting Garmin.
If your Garmin is turning off even with a new card, then it is faulty, probably because of a short in card reader slot.
In that case the unit must be taken apart by a technician to be repaired.
A good thing to do would be calling Garmin at the number listed on the owners manual, checking conditions for repair, ensuring that maps on memory card can be recovered, and seeing if you are entitled to a replacement or how much repair will cost.

Try doing a reset of your device.
Hold Enter and Page while turning it on. You will lose all your waypoints, tracks, routes you have stored so back it up to a computer first, before performing a reset..
If the problem persist after resetting, try removing the micro SD card and turning in the Device, if the device performs better, try to format the SD card andusing it..Tryit with a good SD card..
If you recently updated to the 3.90 firmware that could be part of your problem. Many users have went back to 3.70. Also if you have a class 4 or above sd card that could depending on which brand could be your problem..Try performing a software update to new version 4.0
We updater wont downgrade the version, here is the link to download the older version
