Question about HP PhotoSmart C4385 All-in-One Printer

When the HP C4385 printer driver is loading on my computer it stops and I get the following error message: C:Documen1admin~1local~1 empzs07casetuphpzshl.ice_suffix..exe There is more to the error code but it is very long. I hope this is enough for you to help me.

This error message has something to do with the driver installation. Meaning that the installation cannot be completed because the driver could be corrupted.

If you get this error while trying to install the CD (driver) that came with the printer, try downloading and installing the driver from the Web site.

Contact HP. Your printer needs to be reset to work with the European cartridges. If your printer is no longer in warranty, check the warranty on your cartridges and contact HP for warranty support on your cartridges.

The drivers are causing my computer to crash. Is


Are you using Wireless ? It's a know problem with the HP wireless driver which make a bsod with the NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS message. Look like HP doesn't really care.

HOW DO YOU USE THE hp PHOTOSMART c4385 SCAN FUNCTION?


Don't try to scan from the printer control panel.  You need to launch the "HP Photo and Imaging Director" from your computer.  I have HP Photo & Imaging SoftwareVersion 2.0 installed which I believe was obtained from the HP site for the C4385.

The scan function works fine if you use this software.

Can print but not scan


Issue The error message 'An error occurred while communicating with scanning device' appears on the computer running Windows XP.This error occurs while using the HP scanning software. If the error message appears on the computer while scanning from a networked product, click here to troubleshoot scanner communication errors for the networked product (c00897542) (in English). This document does not cover the communication error message on networked products. Solution Beforeproceeding with the solutions in this document, use the product to makea copy in order to make sure that the hardware is functioning correctly. Ifthe copy function does not work, this document will not help resolvethe issue. Search the HP Web site for a document covering the errormessage that appears on the computer while copying. Ifthe copy function works, try each of the following solutions in theorder presented. After completing the steps for each solution, test theproduct. If the product still does not work, then proceed to the nextsolution.
NOTE: Someof the following solutions require that the computer be restarted.Consider printing this page or creating a bookmark to it, so that itcan be referenced after restarting the computer. Solution one: Restart the All-in-One and the computer Follow these steps to restart the product and the computer.
NOTE: Make sure that the product is connected directly to an electrical outlet and not through a surge protector or power strip.

I have new Hp photosmart C4385 all in one scanner, printer, copies. The printer was initially onstalled. Working w/ wireless HP pavillion. It print & copies fine. Scan does not work. When I enter...


I had a similar problem recently... You have to actually install the scanner software. You probably only installed the print drivers, but not the scanner software. If you don't have the CD handy, go to www.hp.com/#Support. In step one select "Download drivers and software (and firmware)". In step 2 enter your model number (photosmart C4385) and then press "go". It will lead you to a page to select your operating system. Follow that link to download the entire CD (large file).

When you are installing the software, make sure to install the scanner software too.
